Our priest here has a Mastiff and a miniature Schnauzer - but I think that a small Greyhound would be perfect - As Father Mark said, they are just so conducive to the work that priests do. I fostered a darling black girl that was 54 pounds and tiny - not long at all. Perhaps you could forward the post from the pastors that have responded in this thread. Here's hoping !

I haven't read all the posts, so this might be a repeat. There are Greys that are not demonstrative - that is their personality. Sometimes, after a while, some Greys will begin to be more affectionate, and others not. We had a gorgeous black female, Foley, for 6 years and she was like your Grey. She was like that until the end, but did always want to be with us.

Beth, that is the type of seizures my heart grey, Pepsi used to have. Her final one was on Aug.08/04. She began to seize at 2:30 AM and would not come out of it except when she was walked. I believe that she couldn't see by then, as when Mike walked her, she couldn't find me unless I called her name. At 3:30 that afternoon, friends drove us up to the Evet in Fort Worth. Pepsi seized the entire time in the truck and had exactly the same expression on her face (teeth bared) as Steak does. When we got there, as Mike lifted her out of the back seat, she lost control of her bowels. The vet put her on a Valium IV and said that when she came off it, she could be the same or be OK, and of course, this could recur anytime. As she palpated Pepsi's stomach, she yelped. I made the decision right then and held her in my lap as she crossed the bridge. I just couldn't let her continue seizing. I just went back and read the entire thread - please, do not feel bad about the decisions you have made - you made them based on many circumstances that you have no control over. BTW, Mike takes Keppra for his seizures caused by his brain tumors. The oncologist says it is better than Delantin BUT they need to watch his organs, as it can be hard on them. Has the vet mentioned this to you? I feel so much for you as you go through this. Viviane

Kathy sounds like a remarkable woman that touched many lives, both human and canine. My deepest sympathies to her family and all who loved her so much.

They won't let me visit him today because of the tests-said the earliest I could see him would be tomorrow at lunch. I too am adding my prayers and positive thoughts. However, it would be a frosty day in h**l before anyone could stop me from visiting my very ill and confused dog!! Can you move him to your regular vet?? The e-vet clinic sounds like they really do not understand the love that people have for their pets. You don't need to deal with their attitude on top of everything else.

Our JRT gets like that in the summer - we have had to resort to prednisone.

I agree - Pepsi's first seizures occured while she was eating and I thought she was choking on her kibble. Things eventaully progressed to the point that she would go down.My vet didn't require Pepsi to have a seizure/month before we started treating her. I would sure talk to your vet.

Charlie licks his beds and the brick that makes our hearth! I figure they must just taste good!

The other day, when we got home after being away for several hours, DH went to let Charlie out of his crate. Imagine his shock and surprise, when not only Charlie was standing there, but our HUGE Maine Coon was as well!! RamboKitty likes to sleep in Charlie's crate, but has never caught in it before WITH Charlie. Charlie gets along greyt with our 3 house kittieas and our JRT

Lots of prayers and positive thoughts for your girl. I know a friend had a Border Collie that had the FHO surgery about 5 years ago - she has managed although she favors the hind leg - but she is very active and happy.

I am so glad for you and Gwynnie - I have a service mobility dog - a 90 lbs. grey - Charlie. The group let him come to me even though I had 2 other dogs then.

Years ago, we almost lost a show Borzoi because of rawhide - a piece got lodged in her throat - I manage to reach in her mouth and push it down - have never had rawhide in the house since then - I hate the stuff.

Some never learn to ask - you just have to watch for the signs - I have one that goes and walks around the back door area when he needs to go out - just have to be vigilant. Sometimes, I will get the eye too.

He could be in the early stages of bloat or have a gastro- intestinal thing going on. To me the concern is bloat and I would get that ruled out asap, as it can become fatal in a relatively short time. He may also have an intestinal twist or impaction, especially with the vomiting. To me, this warrants immediate vet care.

So many , so much heart ache and so many greyt memories- may all human, canine, feline and others know how much they are loved and missed and for those of us left behind, one day will be the greatest ever!!

How sad! Thank God that he didn't suffer on the side of the road.
