ac is useless just about everywhere. You learn after being attacked how to jump up and down and scream like a banchee when you see a loose dog coming!!! It works and people WANT to stay away from you b/c you are the crazy gh person!! LOL I tell ya, people are dumb. I used to have so many loose dogs come after us, or up to us and I would ask the owners to restrain them. If they did't respond I would say been in a dog fight and if your dog gets too close I will kick it away!! You had been warned.

take pics and let the owner's know. I had something similar happen and my Floyd was bitten, long story but the owner of the house paid my vet bills and the dog who bit mine (who was 'a friendly' St. Bernard), was not allowed back on the property (complicated story).

his behavior sounds good.... great sign. Was he licking his chest and jsut irritated the skin?

not to make you worry but animals can get abscesses from injection site. Something to keep an eye on. best wishes for a speedy recovery for the old soul man

Prayers for him. My sister just had a cat that was really sick come out of Tufts and is home and doing well. He is is in a great place.

Yay, good news..... I am so glad it is a 4 legged ending. It will be a long and slow recovery, keep us posted.

When my Liddy broker her toe the more wrapping I did, the more problems it created. My vet gave me an antibiotic powder to help keep the would dry and honestly, the less I wrapped the wounds the better it got. It is keeping the dog from licking the wounds that is the objective (but they say their saliva has good enzymes to help clean the wound??). I was fortunate to be a stay at home mom to my critters both skin and fur. I supervised her 24/7 until she could be alone and then I would dress the wound with a baby sock and a little tape to keep it up (loosely) and use one of those e-collars when I was not near her. Best of luck, it is a difficult challenge.

My Liddy has bad nails too. Her nails go every which way and are hard to keep short as they are all black nails. My vet in Germany said not to soften the pads??? Sometimes when a nail is jagged it rubs the toe next to it and we get a sore. Is he licking the toe? You may want to try covering it loosely with a baby sock taped around the ankle to keep it on. You will get air flow but less lickie, lickie..... My vet in Germany also gave me an antibiotic powder to put on/around toe to keep it dry. The vet in Germany also told me (i don't know whether to believe her or not on all of this but it is all interesting and no other American vet has offered this info) that all of Liddy's feet are hyper-extended (loose tendons). I can see that myself. She tears up her feet when she runs and it makes the already long toe nails even more of an issue. She said it was due to poor nutrition as a pup. This fits Liddy's profile as she was neglected as a pup...... I just try to keep the nails short, we have corns too and when walking I try and find soft ground for her.

Did the vet say it was a stroke? I had a cat, Zoe, who had similar symptoms.... she had a saddle thrombosis. Her feet turned blue. Long story.... but she too was euthanized. It is always difficult to lose a pet. I am sorry for you sudden loss. Sam was a beautiful cat.

I have a cat that suffers from kidney disease that affects his brain. He definately has some dementia. He no longer uses the litter box and often cries as if he is lost in the house. We deal with it, i would never dream of putting him to sleep b/c of it. I just tell him he is lucky he is loved to tolerate the mess he brings me daily.

My Lydia's toes go in every which way. None are pointed in the same direction and often when she runs in rough dirt she gets scrapes like that. I agree, she'd scream if she were in pain or limp.
