  1. I don't always get a chance to post, but I always check for news on Bodie. Keep healing baby, you will be home in no time.
  2. I agree. Like Sparkle, Foxy is almost 13 and very skinny, but full of energy and life. Foxy lost quite a bit of weight in about 6 months and we tried everything we could think of. In the end we gave up and let her have what she likes 1/2 a can of cheap smelly canned food with her good kibble. She gets Missing Link and fish oil caps plus chicken necks and backs plus veggies and pasta a few times a week. We also treat with a lot of peanut butter. I will also mix a couple of tablespoons of peanut butter with her kibble. Anything to get enough calories into her. Since feeding her what she likes, I am starting to see less bone. At this point I'd like her to gain about 5 lbs, so here's hoping.
  3. Debbie, I would love to read about Ellie and possibly put her on my site. If you haven't already been on the Hope for Hound site, the link is in my signature.
  4. Prayers for a quick and uneventful recovery. go Bodie!
  5. While this is not what we were all hoping for - a miracle, he couldn't be in a better place. Before I started Hope for Hounds I did a lot of research about cancer studies and Univerities. OSU stood out for me because of the work they do with and for greyhounds and their families. It isn't just the cancer program, it's they way the interact and educate the families too. I was so excited when Dr Couto told me in May that they would be doing research in co-ordination with human medicine. I knew that would mean MONEY. I am hoping and praying that Bodie will become one of our Survivors like Bosha and Queen Winnie.
  6. I think of her everytime I open my fridge. She was such a beauty.
  7. I feel your pain. We've tried many of the suggestions above without luck. Foxy is 12 1/2 and has lost weight over the past few months. She is however starting to gain a bit. The best thing with her is cheap canned food. Half a can mixed with her kibble and she eats almost 2 cups that way. If she doesn't finish I mix in some peanut butter. I also give her peanut butter sandwiches as treats.
  8. Donate directly to OSU Make sure you designate that the money is to go to the greyhound wellness program, otherwise he may not get any benefit from the donation.. Or you can make a donation to Hope for hounds and I can send a card on your behalf. All of HfH money goes to OSU's Greyhound Wellness Program. The money we send allows him to continue his research and also benefits other hounds that need help with treatment. A win, win situaltion. Dr Couto is also very involved with Scooby Galgo rescue too, so that's another option.

  17. It looks awful, but I've seen that kind of wound up close and personal. One of the hounds at Sandy Paws got caught on the stair railing and ripped his side open. I was holding GIJenn's sweatshirt over it as she was preparing gauze pads. We got him to an emergency vet and they put in a couple of layers of stitches. He healed up fine and so will Roo. for all of you.
  18. It's great for their skin and fur.
  19. I give one salmon and wild fish oil cap a day
  20. Sending my prayers for Luke. Carol Anne please give Joan my best, and a hug for me and my gang when you see her.
