  1. We will see you later sweet boy and we thank your mom for sharing you with us all these years.
  2. Hi Donna, just breezing through and I saw this and I readily admit I haven't read the replies so apologies if I am repeating. My Stella was very much a homebody, she was confident, comfortable and downright joyous in our home and our neighbourhood but outside of her 'comfort zone' she was a neurotic pupcake, heck it was major breakthrough when she decided it was in fact okay to go counterclockwise around the neighbourhood instead of the usual way Going in the car was cause for drippy nose, panting and vomitting, not motion sick but sick from stress over going somewhere. I spent the first couple years trying to overcome this by carting her all over and working on calming her, then finally figured, you know what, why bother. It was a little more inconvenient to me, I would have loved to 'take her to greyhound events' etc but she was happiest being in her own little kingdom and there was no harm in that so we let her. She had walks twice a day through her neighbourhood where she knew what to expect, where the other dogs were, where the friendly people with snuggles and treats were etc. I miss that sweet crazy quirky girl though we are head over heels in love with our Jeff Gordon who is much easier going.
  3. Kristin I just saw this, sending big hugs for you and Ace
  4. Damn, I am going to have to cancel all those generic viagra and religious literature pamphlets that I signed you and Trudy up for now. Spoilsport.
  5. Stella had been on Metacam for 3.5 weeks when she died suddenly at home. I am NOT saying it had anything to do with it and we didn't get a PM, I was too heartbroken to deal with the thought. It is just one of those things that has weighed on my mind ever since, but we all know I am neurotic so take it with a grain of salt.
  6. Yes I should clarify from my pics that I was hyper vigilant about the two, though it looks from the photos like I allowed Faith to go bug Stella, the opposite is the case, Faith would be playing and Stella would go over and plunk herself down, never liked to be far from 'her kid' and would sleep on the floor beside Faith's crib. "Tellla' was Faith's first english word, followed shortly after by Mama!! Faith has always known the rules you don't bug the dog, if it wants to play it will come to you, otherwise leave it alone. Stella had her 'safe space' she could retreat to (her own room) and Faith wasn't allowed it there. It was rarely ever used except when visiting 'strange' toddlers were over.
  7. We had our Stella for 4 years when we suddenly brought home a squealing, crawling one year old. I was in fact a nervous wreck, as is my nature The previous toddlers Stella had met made her growl and run to her bed. All my worrying was for naught, Faith learned to walk within a couple of weeks and a bond the likes of which I never could have predicted was formed between the two: Stella went to the bridge a year and a half ago and just last weekend we brought home our newest family member. It is early yet but seems like we struck gold twice and Faith again has a new friend.
  8. I have no advice just wanted to pop in and offer a hug and some cyber support
  9. I'd go now Kristin, but as you know I am neurotic Sending feel better thoughts to S!
  10. For the first couple years we thought Stella would growl when she played with us, we knew she wasn't upset just thought it was a quirk of hers. Then one day we heard a real growl from her (when a hot air balloon went by) and we learned the difference between her play 'grumbles' and a 'back off growl' We got lots of roos and grumbles but in the 9 fantastic years we were lucky enough to have her, the only time we ever heard her bark or growl was if a hot air balloon went by. The first time it actually brought my neighbours on both sides out in shock 'was that Stella, did she actually bark????' My girl was terrified of flies and snowmen and a burglar in the house would have had to step over her as she stayed lounging, but should our neighbourhood have ever been invaded by a thundering horde in hot air balloons I have no doubt we would have been safe

Oh Tammy I am so sorry. I was reading your dental thread and had to re-read 3 times because I was sure I must be seeing it wrong. We will see you later Keena
  16. Oh Shirl, I am so sorry It is hard when they go so suddenly and you don't have any time to 'get your head around it' and it is hard when they are sick and you have to make horrible decisions. There is no easy way to say goodbye, so I don't, just see you later sweet silly boy Sending you lots of hugs.

  20. I wish I had something comforting to say but I know there isn't much that will help right now. I hope knowing that so many people are here to remember your sweetie with you will help a bit.

    Jude

Oh Vince, I am so sorry I haven't seen you much around here lately but I certainly remember you and Jude from the 'old days'. Sending a cyber hug. Jude, we will see you later sweet boy.
  22. Oh Robin I am so sorry. I remember when you got that crazy girl, you commented on your mental state for opening yourself up to a 'mature' girl and a strong willed one at that, but even then you knew that it was worth it because the joy she would bring would overshadow the pain. I love ya chicklet and I know that someday your memories of Loca will bring you more smiles than tears. Carolyn
  23. Stella had a ton of those, I forget the name though. Someone way more knowledgable than me will tell you. Stelly had one on her snout that she would occassionally scratch off by accident
