I agree -- the ticks this year in New England are unbelieveable. I just ordered some stuff for our yard called Vet-Kem Yard Spray -- Siphotrol. It's supposed to be safe for the dogs once it dries. It was expensive, but if it gets rid of most of the ticks it'll be worth it. We haven't applied it yet. We also use Frontline Plus almost year-round too. But I've noticed that the ticks take longer to die from the Frontline and if I've missed one crawling on the pups, it can feed long enough to bloat a little before the Frontline kills it.
Does anyone else use siphrotrol?
I've also read that you can buy little cardboard tubes with cotton balls treated wtih a tick-repellent/killer. The idea is mice will use the cotton balls to nest and subsequently the ticks will die right at the source. I think it's the same active ingredient as Advantix(or Advantage? I always screw up the name) , which is unsafe for cats though.
