  1. It's up to you of course, but you sure are going to a lot of effort to do something about this, and giving a lot of drugs, and it's not working. Romi's trouble were literally over after we amputated his offending toe (thought it was osteomylitis, turned out to be a carcinoma), he was literally skipping around in less than a week. It was so good to have my happy boy back! And he was very happy not to have to take any more meds or have any more appointments.
  2. You and Ranger have been inspirational to many many people all over the world. My heart aches for your loss, your boy was a true star in my books. Run pain free at the bridge, Ranger. You'll see your Mom again one day.
  3. Judy, I am so very sorry that Jack has passed. Sending warm hugs to you to help you through yet another terrible loss. Run free sweet boy, I'm sure you have no end of beautiful yellow ducks to play with at the bridge, and you'll have your Renie with you too.
  4. Jey, Sadie's off all the pain meds now,she had a poor reaction to the opiates (fetanyl and tramadol) and became very restless on them, so they switched her to Gaba something-or-other lol, she's been off that for at least a week. She's has had no deramax for a few days. She's on amoxil but will be off that starting tomorrow too. No changes in her diet or treats, she's raw fed and they've continued with that. Dee has been measuring her drinking water for several days now, and I think she noted timing, but I'd have to check that. I will pass on the pepcid tip in case Deb isn't back on tonight.
  5. I'll butt in to answer for Deb and Sadie that yes, the thirst and incontinence are the only symptoms she has, all her blood tests so far have been normal, except her urinalysis was postive for a moderate amount of blood, she had a trace of protein in her urine, and her specific gravity was a little high but still normal. Her blood values have all been normal, and this problem started during her second week post amp. Deb has asked for a consult from OSU as well; we are hoping for a little more creative opinion, no one here thinks Cushings really fits that well.
  6. I am so very sorry to see Embers name here. I've read all of your posts Tom, and you and Ember have truly been inspirational. You have my deepest sympathies on her loss. If love could have saved her, she'd be here yet. Run free sweet girlie, with all of our bridge angels.
  7. Checking in on Crickett, and sending good thoughts.
  8. Pupdate Tuesday 9pm Sadie did get a little sleep last night, as did Dee and Tim, so the new drug is helping, although it was by no means a full 8 hrs. I think any improvement is a good thing right now. We did have some good news tonight, Sadie finally pooped, after 5 days! I'm sure the neighbors must have wondered what all the cheering on the deck was about lol. Sadie looks better to me, less confused and definitely less anxiety, although she's still all over the place. I'm going to try to get a video of her tomorrow - I don't think we need to worry that she won't be able to do stairs once she's healed, she's really adapting well to the change so far. Thanks again for all the good thoughts!
  9. That's exactly the drug the vet just phoned in to the local pharmacy. Fingers crossed it will work for her!
  10. I'm so sorry you were unable to see Harmony recover. I hope you get the closure you're looking for.
  11. 1:45 pm Monday Sadie's sleep last night lasted about 40 minutes - I suspect we caught some time where the fentanyl was out of her system, and the tramadol was not absorbed yet. She has been much worse today, pacing, panting and agitated. We went to the vets early, decision was to pull everything but deramaxx and see how she does. OSU called shortly after we got back and recommended the same thing, so we're feeling hopeful that once the tramadol is cleared, maybe she'll settle down. She's getting 100mg of the deramaxx a day, hopefully that will do it. I don't think she's in pain, she will still eat liver treats lol. I brought her sister back to Camp Greyhound with me, so she has plenty of pups to play with, I'll get her all worn out before we go back to her house after dinner. Thanks again for your continued good thoughts and prayers, they are needed.
  12. 10pm Sunday Thanks for all the good wishes, Sadie is helped by them, as is her Mom and Dad. I think the fentanyl patch has been responsible for the restlessness and panting, we are all glad that it has expired today. We gave her some Rescue Remedy, and used the accupressure points you suggested (thanks so much for that Sam, and for updating for us!!). She ate very well again, still no poops, and had a little walk to the end of the driveway.About 20 minutes after her first dose of tramadol at 8:30pm, Sadie finally fell asleep for the first time since she got home on Friday - not a cat nap, but sleep with nice slow deep breathing, third eyelid showing, totally relaxed. We all breathed a sigh of relief, and I tiptoed out after telling Deb and Tim to go to bed, quick! lol We have our first follow up appointment tomorrow at 1:30pm, Deb will be asking for the bandage to be left off. Sadie is proving to be a real trooper, and none of us is surprised. She has been through a lot in her short life, as has her littermate and sister Storm. You may remember her sister lost an eye to a cancer scare about a month after they were adopted, then about 2 months after that they were attacked by a Newfoundlander and badly injured. Sadie has had 3 additional surgeries for the hemangiopericytoma, and now the amputation. I'd say this family is due for some good luck! Thanks again for all the good thoughts and prayers, they are very much appreciated! I'll update again once we are back from the vets tomorrow.
  13. Yup, Traumeel. Some Zehrs carry it, and Loblaws Supercentres, if you call around you might find one of those open tonight.
  14. Update Jan 10, 5:30pm Sadie had a pretty restless night, so Deb called the vet in the morning - she spoke to a different vet who did not agree with the amount of painkillers Sadie is on, and suggested an increase in the Deramaxx. Sadie was given a Fentanyl patch - 75mg, and prescribed 25 mg of deramaxx, that's been increased now to 100 mg. I suggested Deb contact OSU if she wanted a final opinion on the meds, as Guillermo has consulted on Sadie's case previously. When I was there today Sadie was awake for a little while, then finally fell asleep. Her seroma is growing, hopefully it won't get too much bigger. We go in on Monday for a bandage change.
  15. I suspect Deb will be in touch with you once things settle down a bit, in the meantime, I'm happy to give Sadie a gentle squeeze for you. Traumeel is a mainstay here, we always use it for any kind of trauma or injury. It's the best! Evening Pupdate: So far the only problem reported tonight is Sadie refuses to pee on the deck lol. She's not been allowed to tink out there in the past, but there are a lot of stairs into and out of the house, so she will have to be re-trained to go out there. Such a good little girlie! I even tried collecting some yellow snow from the backyard, and put it on the deck, but apparently she's still reluctant lol.
  16. What a wonderful update on Ranger! Good boy!
  17. Sadie is home, and has been amazing. We went to the clinic to pick her up, and she just came hopping up to us from the back, and stood leaning on her Mom while we talked to the vet. Then I took her out to my truck, I really thought I'd be picking her up, but she just kept hopping until we got to a door, and then look up at me as if to say, "You're pretty slow on the uptake today, Auntie Karen, get the door open!" lol. We got her home and settled in to her new room, her Mom has set it up perfectly, and she has everything she needs to be comfy. This girlie is most certainly not letting the loss of one little leg slow her down very much. I was very happy to see she was well wrapped up, very similar to a compression bandage. The vet dosed her as we had requested with Traumeel tincture, which works wonders. Here she is on her new bed Here's Sadie's sister and littermate saying hello Here's our lovely girl giving us a little smile I did inquire if she would now be getting a discount for nail clipping....
