We have been fostering a greyhound for a few weeks now and have been considering adopting him. He is such a sweet and friendly boy! However yesterday I made a smoothie and headed to the couch. My greyhound followed me wagging his tail as per usual. He’s a very affectionate and happy boy. I sat on the couch, he jumped up and had a sniff of my smoothie. I moved it away so he wouldn’t try and drink some. He then rested his head on my lap and his paw. He always does this when I sit on the lounge and always wants to sit with me rather than on the other lounge or on his bed. Maybe 30 seconds later he let out a deep growl. He was staring at me while growling with his head rested on me and I wasn’t doing anything to annoy him such as touching him. Still staring at me he let out a deeper growl and another one. I figured he was growling at me as he was looking at me. It really frightened me as it was such a deep growl. Because I was scared I got up quite quickly and that’s when he snapped and barked. I didn’t see if the barking was directed at me because as I said I walked away quickly. It’s the most confusing thing I’ve ever seen a dog growl over before. Why would he rest his head and be affectionate and then suddenly start growling? Was it because he wanted my smoothie and wanted me to hand it over?
