Next time you all come over and she is zipping around the yard I'll stand in your vicinity and I'm sure you'll hear it. Oh, and another name we have for our girl is Miss Sassy Pants, which describes her pretty well, I think you'll agree

Oh, thank you so much, I feel so relieved. I'm glad it's a happy thing!

Molly moved in and began her takeover in October of 2011 and she is getting us trained pretty well. She has become much more confident and playful during her time with us. Molly (Life is so Good) raced her entire career, until April of 2011, at Caliente and the introduction to snow was memorable. We have a large enough backyard (just 1/4 acre or so) that she can really stretch out and do zoomies big time. She does this little "thing" when running that has me just a little concerned. As she goes by me or my DH she snaps her jaws in our direction and if she runs up to us she does a little snap as she comes to a stop. I'm concerned that one of these days one of those snaps is going to connect and then "ouch"! Any suggestions as to how to curb her enthusiasm? She doesn't seem to do it to other dogs that I can hear...and believe me you can her the jaws clamp together. I would think that the discomfort of it all would make her stop, but apparently not. Any ideas?

I highly recommend that you have your vet do bloodwork first.

Please add my wonderful boy, Casey, to the list. He passed on August 19 from kidney failure. The tears won't stop.

It is through tears that I'm reaching out for any advice, and comfort too, from those of you who have had to help their baby through this terrible disease. Since Casey has a heart murmur his vet suspected that he was having heart problems so in addition to lab work he was placed on a portable monitor. Well, the lab results came back with renal failure. We're going to be seeing the vet in a little while to have the monitor removed and find out what the treatment plan is going to be. I guess initially he'll need a course of IV fluids, then we'll see. Keep my sweet boy in your prayers. Joanne

Here is a picture of Casey after becoming a blood donor last year. Tonight he was supposed to donate again and instead Carol brought him back into the exam room after his pre-donation physical and said, "Casey has a heart murmur and probably needs to see a cardiologist." She said she would be emailing his test results to Casey's vet and that I should call her to see what we should do next. The murmur is in the left side of the heart, which means nothing to me, except TOTAL PANIC. He just saw the vet last week for his shots and the doctor didn't hear anything then, but I'm sure her exam wasn't as detailed as the one at Dove Lewis (they did an electrocardiogram). Oh, and he can't be a blood donor any more either. I know I need to hear from his doctor before sinking even farther into a black hole, but do any of you have dogs with heart murmurs and what is the usual treatment for them? Please, please, let this be not serious.

My boy Big (Big Surge) never raced and developed osteo in his hip at age 11. He went to the bridge two years ago and my heart is still broken.

Just one sweet boy here, Casey. When we went to look at available hounds we thought of getting a girl this time. We had recently lost another sweet boy, Big. None of the girls really clicked with us and we were told about a boy that had been at the kennel for a long while and the rest is history.

I'm so proud of my boy Today was Casey's first visit to Dove Lewis Veterinary Hospital as a blood donor. He was fussed over, got a wonderful massage both before and after, and left a unit of blood lighter. Of course, he was the best behaved, most handsome, most easygoing, friendly boy they've ever seen Here is a picture of Casey with Carole, who is the Blood Bank Coordinator. She is trying to get him interested in the toy he picked out afterwards (a stuffed hot dog). He doesn't look too happy here does he? He's thinking: "If she isn't going to keep giving me a massage then I'm outta here. Mom, let's go! He got a bright orange "I'm a blood donor" scarf and got a lot of attention on the way back to the car. He loved that.
