  1. Thank you both so much for your advice! It's good in some ways to hear this is a common enough injury based on where he is and what he's doing. We'll definitely get him some appropriate wrapping then
  2. We have started taking our greyhound to an enclosed field so he can have a run around and play off-lead. Recently, everytime we have gone, we have noticed that on his front left leg, the very top paw pad, above his "wrist", has had the top layer of skin peeled off. Basically it's like he has torn the top layer of his paw pad off so we have the raw skin underneath exposed. It heals after a day (callouses over) and we put sudo cream and antiseptic spray on it. The issue is it keeps happening. We are assuming he's doing it as he's breaking...bending down his leg in a certain away which flays the paw pad. I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue with their greys? We've pondered if we should bandage it beforehand, to try and prevent it in future, but we're worried a bandage might fall off/down if he's running. I've also wondered if a paw pad wax might help, again to provide another layer of protection. If anyone has any thoughts or experience I'd be greatful to hear it .
  3. Thank you all so much for your advice! It's true - Greyhounds are so subtle in their communication but we're getting to know his cues now so as you say, hopefully he will tell us - but we will pack for all eventualities! He's a lovely 5 year old called Ernie. Advertised as quiet and placid but he is anything but now! It's so lovely to see him come out of his shell
  4. Hi All, I am the proud new owner of an ex racer. We've had him for 2 months now and are just in love. We're travelling to Scotland soon and as we are in winter, I have been wondering about clothing and keeping him warm. We will be touristing so I suspect there will be at least 2 days where we will be out and about for the majority of the day. We have a thick fleece-underlined coat for him but I was just wondering if this on its own will be enough? The temperature looks to be about 6-8 degrees in Scotland. We have some house jumpers for him also so was wondering if it's a good idea to double up? Jumper plus coat, or is that too much? Should the winter coat be enough? Any opinions and advice are appreciated
