I am so sorry for your sudden loss The shock of going from ‘everything is ok’ to ‘he’s gone’ is hard to process. He had a wonderful life with you and a perfect last day, I hope that helps when you get past the first grief.

I am not an expert by any means, but I do agree with what has been said. Dogs like (love) routine so they know what to expect. NILF respects his boundaries but lets him know the humans are in charge. Once he knows what’s expected, he will relax. Good luck and thank you for giving him a chance! -

I gave my old girl some canned food from a company called Almo, but it was protein only (chicken) so it was only an add in to her other food. It was very good quality and she loved it.

As we get older (hounds and people!) our systems can’t always handle foods and such as well as they used to, so it may just be an age thing. Or, as Jan said, the company may have changed the formula. My personal take is, at almost 14 go with what works, but do check with your vet.

The leash that immediately came to my mind was the one I had for Fletcher made from the ropes climbers use. It was very tough, and I see some like it listed on Amazon. Might be overkill for a 26 lb dog but even if she chews on it, the leash should hold together. I would send you my old one if I hadn’t already given it away.

I don’t have any specific help to add, both of my greys with osteo were not good candidates for amp. It sounds like your girl is and I am glad you are getting her in soon. There is no sound in the world so awful as a greyhound screaming from a leg broken because of osteo, I would not want you to go through that.
