  1. In the first picture it looks like the left side to me if you just imagine the shoulder blade back.  She is not in alignment as you stated so she has a little sway for balance and it looks like that is making the “muscle bulge” more noticeable.

just my opinion.  Glad she is doing so well.

At Journey’s last check in September she was negative no ova present.  I kinda want to test if it has to do with the timing of the sample and when the Simparica Trio is given.  Next time I will get a sample the week she is due for her regular dose.  Just curious if she is continuously negative or is it the timing of the sample.  Just glad they are under control for the moment.

Ooh, interesting theory. Let us know what you find out!

Just dropped off a :catscatsample to be tested and today is the day she gets Simparica Trio.  She has been negative for a year.  I am very interested to see the results and how well the Simparica Trio takes care of the infestation since we had such a hard time getting it under control.  Will post when we get the results back.

  3. Journey says come on over AnnIE, I have extra houndie beds all over.  I would enjoy a houndie to play with and we could double team mom and Chai to start the day early cause I caved in.   I am expecting a big box of food and treats so now is a good time….  See you in a few days……  we can run laps and chase bunnies I might know where they stay.

  4. My greyhound who passed in 2020 had SLO she was on prednisone as a taper then sniptips and niacinamide.   The trick for her was starting the prednisone at first hint of SLO.  Once we figured out the pattern to her SLO it was easy to keep her well managed and she keep her nails longer. I do not remember her nails falling out after treatment was well under way just the brittle chalky nails for the last few years.  We treated her for about 5 years.

  5. My previous greyhound stopped jumping into the car, the vet and I thought it was anxiety.  As she was not showing any other signs of discomfort and there was lots of life drama and a move going on in her world.  She had a history of SLO that affected her toe nails but was well treated and not an active problem.  But if my toenails were sensitive I would not want to land on them so did not think much of it.  Two years later she started knuckling under and was treated for Lumbar Stenosis.  Looking back I think the refusal to get into the car could of been the beginning sign of LS.

Might be worth asking about at a vet visit.

  6. I love the gentle leader for dogs just like this.  You really have to just stop and let him self correct.  If done properly no pulling on the neck, does not interfere with breathing and as fast as he learns how to walk like you want put a leash to his collar and walk him with a double leash like you would ride a horse with double reins. Work at it until you are only using the collar but have the gl on for backup.

I know that was fast and a lot of info.  Point is they work great and the dog gets it fast then you wean them back to a collar as it is a training tool.

  7. There are lots of advice if you look up separation anxiety from past post.  I would start slow while you are in the house.  If you have a crate or baby gate that you can contain him in (give him a chew toy, dental chew something to distract him). then go in and out of his view of sight. If you have other family members home put a leash on him and have him stay with them.  Then go do something like laundry disappear from him while you collect and load the machine, them pop back into his sight do not make a fuss only great him when he is calm and after you have been in the room for a little bit.  Then disappear when you switch washer to dryer then again when you put clothes away.  He will learn that you are coming back.  Just make it a normal part of your day and he will get it.

He has picked you as his rock and just needs to know where you are and that you are coming back if he loses sight of you. Just like when your son was little and got left for the first few times when you got to go to the store back to work.  He will soon pickup that you have not been rehomed without him.  And will learn you patterns and become board with them soon enough and the Velcro will loosen, another good place to practice is to shut the door to the bathroom, bedroom when you go in and out the door.

  9. Welcome and congratulations, if you look up statue or freeze when walking.  You will find all kinds of information.  The more you can let her hear the new sounds the better.  Not sure where you are at if you are having nice weather you could have the windows open a little so she can get used to the noises.  If there are times of the day that are quieter take her out then.
She is just having culture shock to sounds of the apartment and neighborhood.  It just takes time for them to get used to everything.  So for now just go out often not to far away and give lots of praise in your happy you are such a good girl tone.  When she goes tell her good potty.  She will get the hang of it soon enough.

She just has so many new sounds to figure out kids people outside, traffic, garbage pickup days, deliveries sounds of construction are all new and scary they will soon just be background noises just takes time and patience.  The more she can hear them from a safe space the faster she will get over them.  Good luck it will get better soon.

  10. You can try soaking feet in Epsom salts to keep the foot clean it will draw out infection.  Wonder if it was hurt again on the gravel.  You could always put a boot on to protect the pad.

I am sure you will get lots of good advice, some times it is difficult to heal up places that bend/flex.

  11. How long have you had her?  The freezing is very common with new greyhounds.  It happens when they get overwhelmed with sights and sounds.  She may see the car as here safe place to escape the scary new world.  If she is new maybe just have her hang out in her yard to get used to the new sights and sounds for awhile they do grow out of it.

    Gelsey is just whining.  Ceaselessly.

Just in the last few days, Gelsey has been hopping up in MY space when it's empty.  MY seat on the sofa.  MY side of the bed.  Even when there's plenty of other space available.  What's going on?  Is she trying to move me down in the pack order?  Or seeking my place as somewhere safe?  In general, she's very deferential to me.

Wonder if Gelsey has had a health/physical or age change that Milo is picking up on and thinking time to change the dynamics of the home.
