  1. I adopted my amazing 3yr old greyhound Abbie 9 months ago...shes my first grey, and Im so in love with her ! The other day I gave her a greenie like I do everyday ...its her favorite time of day...i then went to toss her another dental chew and it accidentally hit her in the snout ...well she has acted traumatized ever since..didnt finish her food this morning, and when I went to give her daily greenie she turned her head away and started shaking...Ive heard that greys are sensitive...but this seems so extreme?? Is there anything I can do to bring her around??
  2. My newly adopted grey Abbie seems like shes lost a little weight since adopting her about a month ago...I just had her to the vet and she was 56.5lbs ...looks like she was 58 the previous year and was 61at her heaviest...my vet said she was fine but wouldnt want her any less ....it was a bit of an adjustment when we first got her as she didnt want to eat much of anything ...I finally have eating well -only thing she likes thus far is Purina Pro Plan Focus Sensitive Stomach & skin...Ive got her eating 3 cups dry /day and 2 little cans of the wet per day ...my concern is I can sometimes see
  3. This is a new Veterinary practice to both me and my grey...the rescue in which I got her from recommended them because 2 of the vets have Greys and no a lot about them 😐??
  4. I had my Abbie to vet this morning for her check up...first one since we adopted her about a month ago..the vet said she heard a grade 2 possibly 3 out of 6 heart murmur 😐she recommends having an ultrasound /echo done because it isnt common in Greyhounds ...and shes also only 3 ?? ** ...I just lost my mini dachshund to heart failure...praying this isnt bad

  6. Agreed! Im so relieved shes eagerly eating and so happy & bright!!
  7. Good news ...Abbie seems to really like the Purina Pro Plan Focus Sensitive Skin and Stomach ....shes been cleaning and licking her bowl clean and gets excited at meal time now! It was pretty unbelievable that after just one night of eating this how much attitude changed ...she seems more bright , energetic and happier, playing with her toys again ! I guess she really does need a sensitive stomach formula! Fingers crossed she stays liking this ! Only thing is that I know this food doesnt come highly rated on dog food advisor 😐 but its the only thing she really seems to like
  8. So I bought a small bag of the Purina Pro Plan Focus Sensitive Stomach and Skin lamb and some cans ...I offered her a small amount which she ate last night! We’ll see what today brings ....my concern is that shortly after she eats she wants to go and lay down...she also looks a bit sad to me as well...maybe I’m just being paranoid I’m gonna make an appointment for a checkup with the vet come Monday to be on the safe side.
  9. What does everyone feed their greyhounds?? I recently adopted my first greyhound a few weeks ago...she came with Science Diet Senstive Stomach and Skin but she wont eat it😩 so Ive been offering what my other dogs have which is Taste Of The Wild -both wet and dry ...shes not crazy abkut that either ...i happened to have some Stella &Chewy Freeze Dried Raw Patties which is the only thing she seems to like ...but I feel like she needs some kibble and wet food in addition to the freeze dried raw...she sometimes eats the Stella & Chewy Raw Coated Kibble and sometimes Tiki dog but it seems
  10. Last night I found what looks like a small bruise on one of Abbies hind legs ...my husband said he saw her licking it...Ive heard that greyhounds can be prone to bleeding disorders so of course now Im worried ...is this common? She does romp around and rough house play outside with our other dogs ...acting fine otherwise
  11. Hello...wondering if Bravecto or Nexgard is Safe flea/tick control for a Greyhound?? Ive been using both of those products for the past several years on my other Dogs with no issue ...Ive heard greyhounds can be sensitive to certain drugs ?!?
  12. Greyxptatjons I feed her completely by herself in another room and lock up my corgi and jack Russell so she can eat in peace ...she seems to be more distracted in the mornings for whatever reason??and seems like she isn’t as hungry in the mornings as she is at night ..her previous owners wrote me a nice note about her and stated that she wasn’t always hungry in the mornings ...they sent her food with her but she wouldn’t eat it I’ve been offering high quality wet and kibble ...just seems like she’s hungrier some days than others .... GreyPup I did see your thread ...she’s due for a checkup
  13. I recently adopted a greyhound about 2 1/2 wks ago ! ...Im new to greyhounds...I wanted to know if its common for greyhounds to be a little finicky with eating ? Abbie seems to not have much interest in eating her breakfast -she asks to eat and seems eager but doesnt finish ...only takes a few bites......Ive offered her all different types ranging from taste of the wild wet and dry etc ...tiki dog and Stella & chewy-, Nutro and Merrick...she has zero interest in what was sent with her as well😐(science diet sensitive skin and stomach)she seems to like to freeze dried raw the best ...seems
