  1. They look similar to the one I have which is great! It's a great price too! Thank you
  2. Looking for house collar recommendations! I just noticed her house collar seems to rubbing her fur off. I love her collar (the color stops people from asking if sheโ€™s a boy as much, has a boomerang tag, and itโ€™s reflective for our early am walks), but it seems even the collar part (not just tags) are rubbing. I believe in keeping a collar on her, just in case (and also per adoption papers that she wear a collar). Does anyone have a house collar that they love that doesnโ€™t rub? Pink and/or reflective is a bonus! Also, it would be great if it would stay on when she bends her head down, even this one sometimes falls off, which defeats the purpose! IMG_4664
  3. I've been making peanut butter and pumpkin dog treats. I wanted to make them look a little fancier, since I may be giving some out at Christmas. It looks like most of the white icings are yogurt and need refrigeration, have sugar, or have white chocolate. I saw some recipes use carob, which is ok for dogs to have. Has anyone made their own treat icing that has some tips? Carob powder vs carob chips, is small amounts of white chocolate or candy coating (like candy melts) ok to use since the bakery style treats have it? Thank you so much!!!!
  4. Vet said he thinks it's something she may have been born with. Its like an adhesion on the eye, I believe he said it's a posterior synechiae, but it's not affecting her vision. Also did a blood test to check for high cholesterol, since that can also cause deposits in the eyes sometimes, but it came back normal. Said he can recheck to make sure not changing in 6 weeks.
  5. I did make an appointment for tomorrow. I called and asked the vet who saw her in August with the adoption group, but they said they didn't have anything out of the ordinary in her chart.
  6. No, it looks like it's inside the eye, rubbing it doesn't do anything.
  7. I just noticed this...extra vein type thing in her one eye in the sun yesterday. I went back through pictures and it's been there since we got her a month and a half ago. From what I can tell from the pictures, it hasn't changed, but I also don't normally take pictures of just her eyes! Is this a normal thing, or is it something to be worried about? Thank you! IMG_9167 In the sun IMG_9181 Dark outside today, so used a flashlight to illuminate.
  8. She's really giving it to me now because I made princess hat to with it. I'm still getting a bit of stink eye even with holding a treat for the picture. IMG_8900
  9. Thanks! We were actually at the dog park, but we just got our own fence 2 days ago and it's pretty similar:)
  10. I've already posted a few questions here and on the Facebook page, so I'm a little late doing our introduction. My husband and I both had a dog while growing up. Together, we had a chow/shepherd mix that we adopted from the pound. We had her for 13 years before she passed. When we started looking at adopting another dog, my husband mentioned a greyhound. When we saw Jungle's picture on one of the adoption groups websites, my kids said 'that's our dog' and wouldn't stop talking about her. We went to a meet and greet, and everyone fell in love with her. We adopted Jungle (aka CTW Maneater) almost a month ago. She is a light red fawn and is 4 years old. She is a really sweet girl. She is great with our two kids and loves to play with her toys (well, mostly just her balls). She will even play fetch. She loves walks, car rides, meeting new people, and treats. We have the steps going out to the yard down! I have already bought her a sweater, 3 coats, and booties. I don't think she is too sure about the coats, but will tolerate them and is definitely happier with them now that is cold in the mornings (southern Ohio). We haven't tried the booties yet. The tutu I made her for Halloween is another story, she just looks at me like "Why?". She's our first greyhound, and we couldn't be happier. jungle
  11. She's beautiful! We're from Ohio too, but down towards Cincinnati.
  12. Thanks for all the advice! The vet said it was ok to give her an Imodium AD, so she hasn't gone again, but her stomach is still gurgling. I gave her some plain oatmeal, small amounts, twice now. The last time I mixed a little of her kibble in (maybe 1/8 cup) because she wouldn't eat the oatmeal and kept nosing her food container. They offered to put her on a RX, started with an M, maybe Metronidazole? I'm hoping it clears up on it's own. If she still has it tomorrow, I'll get the RX.
  13. Thanks! I did give it to her without food. I'll try it with a full belly next time
  14. Jungle had her first accident this morning in her crate. She has been really good about not going in the house and had been house-trained with her foster. She even goes past the door more if she needs to go out. (Warning: Below may have gross details for first thing in the morning.) Wednesday she received her first does of TriHealth Plus (she had been on Iverhart Plus with her foster). I noticed yesterday her poop was softer and her belly gurgled a little last night. She pooped in her crate this morning, I heard her whining, but the deed was done and a little cold. I don't see anything in the poop. Some of it was soft but shaped and then it was liquid. I took her out as soon as I got shoes on, she held it for a minute or two and then went, but it was all liquid and I heard gurgling. Other miscellaneous info: 10/2 I saw worms in her poop (first time) and she got Drontal Plus. Haven't seen anything since. Yesterday she had a baby carrot. I had given her half of one last week to see how she did and everything seemed ok. She got a hold of my son's rubber grippy for his pencil. I put the pieces back together and it looks like most pieces were still there (definitely all large and medium sized pieces are accounted for). There might be some tiny ones she could have swallowed. She is behaving normally. She is currently playing fetch with my youngest and has been begging for food. She may have eaten something in the yard last night, but it was dark and when I opened her mouth when I saw it moving like chewing, there was nothing in there. Could the heartworm med cause it or would it be something else? Thank you!
  15. Could you tell me about CTW Maneater? I looked up her races on trackinfo. While it was really neat to be able to see her run, I have no clue how to read the page. ๐Ÿ˜ Thank you!!
  16. Thanks! I tried a light wash on her thighs today, and they already look a little better!
  17. Photobucket won't link anymore Thanks greysmom for the search ideas! I'm attempting to share from Flickr. IMG_8486 IMG_8485
  18. Thank you for all the replies so far! I created a photobucket account, so let's see if the pictures work
  19. Hubby and I both grew up with dogs and have had our own dog before, but this is our first Greyhound! We adopted her a few days ago from a rescue group. She is such a good dog! She is great with the kids and we love her already. I had a couple of questions/advice: 1. Bald spots and belly and thighs. I know the can be normal, and her foster said it looks like the thighs are starting to grow back. Her thighs have a some bumps to them. Could it be hair follicles? She had an all clear heartworm/fecal test in August from adoption group's vet, but I had to take her in today when I saw worms in her poo. She got a dewormer. Could the tapeworm inadvertently cause it (stealing nutrients, so diet isn't as good)? If I can figure out how to add a picture I will. 2. We have her on a grain free food (Costco) and have been mixing it with the food the foster gave us. My mom just gave us a huge box of Milk Bones, which had the main ingredient as wheat. Can she eat the treats, or is the non-grain for treats too? 3. We have the stairs almost down! Yay! We just started working on "lay down" today. She is smart, maybe a little stubborn. I did read Retired Racing Greyhounds for Dummies, but if anyone has any tricks, I would appreciate it! Thank you all in advance! I've already found some great advice on here(helped a ton on the stairs)!
