  1. **Hugs** Yeah, watching a beloved companion grow old is frustrating. As others have said, it sounds like your guy still has life left in him.
  2. LOL... A great intro title and great news Yaaay for a happy behind!
  3. Cool! That's where I plan on adopting my future dog from There was a booth at the local Pet Show and of course I **HAD** to pet the big male that was there.
  4. Thanks everyone A 26# bag of kibble lasts my current brat about 2 months. Cool! Okay! Now I can picture the feeding schedule!
  5. I pull baby cockatiels for handfeeding in 3 days. Baby cockatiels are butt ugly at this stage, but so ugly they're cute, you know? On a different note - researching Greyhounds as Service Dogs :) SO MUCH TO CONSIDER!

  6. I searched on the forum but didn't find what I was looking for. I was wondering approximately how many bags of dog food you guys go through each month per dog and at what bag size? My brain is having trouble processing the math that requires me to convert 4 cups of kibble into bag weight. Sigh. So if I were to go with one month's amount of kibble - say Iam's Pro-active (green bag), how many bags would I need? Thanks for putting up with my N00b questions, guys, LOL! Want to cover all my bases before completely and utterly deciding on a Greyhound (Plus my sister's deciding on what kind of dog she wants. Killing two birds with one stone here by doing research for the both of us, heehee)
  7. Whooo hoooo! Another Sighthound Service Dog handler! I currently have a whippet/IG cross as a psychiatric service dog and one of the breeds I'm looking at when she retires is the retired racing greyhound **waves hi**
  8. Thank you everyone for your tips I'm going to have to dig out a collar from Aaerro's collection - If I can find them, LOL! So glad I found this forum. I'm learning so much stuff that can also be applied to my current brat attention hog
  9. Which is why I'm so glad to have tags on my current dog . AND that she's licensed and registered with the city in case she gets lost. I think I'll get a second collar though, just for tags and use the martingale for walks and other outings.
  10. That sounds like an excellent plan! I think I might try that for my brat
  11. What an amazing pack, past and present Thanks for sharing!
  12. I've posted a bit already, but I've not introduced myself! Shame on me, LOL! I'm new to greyhounds but not to sighthounds. I grew up with whippets and currently have a whippet/Italian Greyhound cross as a service dog I'm currently researching breeds to be used as a Service dog when my current girl passes, and it looks as if my next dog may be a Greyhound. I am so excited! I've already found a slew of great information. Thank you everyone
  13. **Hugs** So sorry to hear of Lucky's passing.
  14. So much to consider Thank you everyone for your input
  15. In one of the more recent threads on collars and tags, some folks mentioned that they use more than one collar. I was curious - any reason for this? Is one just for tags and the other for training or is it a safety concern? I grew up with whippets and they often went naked when indoors, but their tags were on their martingale collar. My current dog has a martingale with tags that she wears all the time. If it's a safety thing, I might end up getting a second collar, LOL!!
  16. Thanks for the idea My brat is such a chow hound - practically inhales her meals. Fish oil will make her sooo happy, LOL.
  17. I am so glad I'm reading this thread! It makes me remember/realize how much work my five month old dog was. I definitely have to look for an older dog as my next service dog, LOL
  18. Sticky backed foam can be found at walmart in the craft section and at craft stores like Micheal's. It can be cut to size, too. I wouldn't use it as a permanent fix, but in a pinch it should do
  19. I, too, would like to know the results of the vet visit. Hope everything is okay!
  20. Yaaaaay for something that works MY whippet/IG cross has an allergy to whatever they've put in Iams weight loss food (blue bag). Nothing serious, but she itches regularly. Time to experiment, methinks. This thread gives me some good ideas where to start !
  21. Thank you everyone This is more information to put into my arsenal!
  22. I've been reading this thread with a great deal of hope. Glad Taylor is doing so well ! You go, you glorious tripod!
  23. Thanks Scoutsmom I'm glad I'm on this forum - get all the facts sorted out!
