  1. This just makes me laugh-thanks for posting
  2. You were all right, pancreatitis. She is at the local animal hospital right now getting treatment. Thanks so much for your replies, it means a lot to me. Good info for the future and I am praying for my Maryl as she did then start vomiting again today and pancreatitis can be deadly.
  3. If anyone could help to give me some insight it would be much appreciated. We have an 8 yo grey named Maryl and she has been very healthy. Just had her physical and dental, did great. we did give her a bunch of pork rib meat over the weekend and early Monday AM vomiting started. All day yesterday she vomited every time she was given just water. We went to animal emergency last night but the wait was 4 hrs, lots of crazy dogs in the waiting room and the triage nurse told us she didn't feel maryl had bloat or was in serious danger at the time. She of couse advised us to wait and get her evaluated. maryl could not sit in that waiting room when she was so tired from her draining day, so we felt the best thing was to take her home and see how she did. Overnight I have gradually given her water and she is keeping that down but no stool. the triage nurse said it might be from a large fat load this weekend. I have had greys for long time but haven't had this problem before. Does this sound reasonable? I would like to know so we don't repeat this mistake in the future. Unfortunately Maryl hasn't met food she didn't like so she just eats anything and everything! Thanks ahead of time! Maria, Jeff and Maryl
  4. There seems to have been a lot of new owners lately asking about what to have for their new doggies. Today on our walk we got a nice cut on our foot and there was blood. Maryl is what I would call a tough greyhound, she didn't miss beat, kept on walking without limping. I noticed footprints in blood. Unless you love cleaning up blood all over your home you will at some time have to wrap a limb or something because of bleeding, so have some co-band wrap and 4x4's gauze. I do not take them to the vet for this kind of thing, they heal very fast because of that fantastic oxygenated blood supply. The wrap is much bigger than the cut, she is fine. Was limping a bit, then when morning sausage, eggs and cheese were available, no limping.
  5. The skull is very hard-thank goodness! he sounds OK, probably just a little embarrassed.
  6. why eat Hersheys when you have Godiva? they do have discriminating taste.
  7. It never gets easier. My heart always aches when I see these posts. so very sorry for your loss.
  8. Our girls got lasagna today (homemade and very good), we are all paying for that decision now!
  9. First 6 months can be hard, but the years of rewards are worth everything you give over and over!!
  10. Greys are the ultimate in sensitivity!
  11. I wish there could be a "greyhound only dog park". that won't happen of course. We took our greys to a grey only event and there were about 50 greys running in a herd and they got along perfectly!! It was quite the sight.
  12. All of this treat talk makes me think of the first bit of advise we got from Recycled Racer's Marnie, "If you spoil her, she'll let you". No phrase has been more true.
