  1. They will all be missed and loved by those they owned.
  2. Welcome. So glad you joined us! Actually Taste is subjective but good taste is never! This is one of the most beautiful breeds in the world who has been revered and celebrated in art, literature and yes.....fashion. Think Erte and his famous Symphony in Black. The woman had 2 Greyhounds on a leash....not 2 Golden Retrievers or Chihuahuas (not that there's anything wrong with either) You have impeccable taste and an eye for beauty!
  3. I am sorry for the loss of one so beloved as Puma, but I am also happy that you found a new opportunity for happiness with another. Enjoy each day and the returning joy to look forward in the years to come with Bloke . Cheers to your future together. Zoesmommy
  4. Welcome, I look forward to hearing all about your Greyhound adoption adventure and hearing about all the wonderful things that happen when you decide to bring your new baby home! Zoesmommy
  5. What a handsome boy! They are both just too cut together! Congrats on having another wonderful dog and new friend for River.
  6. I am sorry for the loss of your friend although it was so long ago. I am touched that you still remember with that much fondness and love.
  7. I am sorry for your loss. I am sure he was magnificent. My condolences.
  8. A tribute to Petyr "rattie", "As humans we are showing great improvement as a species. Some of us are becoming more like our animals". Zoesmommy Remember fondly your little friend, the love you extended to him and the wondrous changes for the better he made in you! My condolences for your loss.
  9. Hoping for everything to be well and sending good thoughts your way.
  10. I will make a point of taking time to do this. I also have a neighbor across the street who goes to church. I will ask him to put in a prayer request at his church.
  11. Hi there, First off, I'm happy to hear you have some time off and an opportunity to enjoy getting away. Good for you! Enjoy it. In the 4 years I've had my Grey we took 2 vacations. I've been very, very lucky. I've never had to use a kennel. Do you have a friend with a mature college age son or daughter? In regards to Zoe (my Grey) we have a friend's daughter who is 19 and an extremely responsible and mature nursing student who will stay in our home as a "live in" while we are gone. Zoe likes her and the girl has learned all about Greys so we are fine with it. She is familiar with our dog's routine. We pay her better than average--but much cheaper than a kennel-- and she's all too happy to do it for the easiest money ever made, having a loving dog to play with, and staying in a "house all by herself" instead of an apartment! Plus she has the TV and stereo, and bathroom all to herself without having to share it with roommates....... and she can eat what she wants out of the fridge! It's also a "job/work experience" she can add to her resume and I will write a letter of reference for her! Of course mommy and daddy call and check in on the baby ! If our girl isn't available the one lady from our Greyhound adoption agency where we actually got Zoe from will watch her for us! She's only an hour away! She has 3 Greys of her own. It's like a major play holiday for Zoe. I'm lucky I've never had to use a kennel. I'm not sure how Zoe would do in one. Most likely we wouldn't take a vacation if we had to fly or we wouldn't be able to stay somewhere nice if the hotel wasn't "pet friendly". Neither my husband nor myself has family in the state.
  12. I am besides my self about the dog. I will make a point of posting it on my Quit Smoking topic I've been running! I know this is info everybody knows on GT. Just friendly reminders: Chocolate/caffeine is poisonous. Since Valentines day just passed, please keep track of candy you may leave out in a dish or candy/candy wrappers especially if you have toddlers or small children that like to walk about the house with this. Also, please review harmful plant list. I received a live Calla Lilly for Valentines Day. Spring is coming. For those who garden please check bulbs. I have an amaryllis I force indoors to bloom every year. That IS poison to dogs. Since I have a plant nibbler I have to keep it well out of reach. Check your harmful to dogs house plants list also. Thanks for the heads up about the nicotine! Again so sorry for the dog. That was tragic!
  13. Congrats on the baby boy! I know not a thing about Greyhound puppies either but would enjoy hearing all about them. You are the first person I know who has one. If you start a post on raising this puppy, I will be happy to follow and just listen. I can't add anything except Welcome to GT and how beautiful Cairo is
  14. One beautiful dog (Zoe), One nasty set of teeth.. Healthy otherwise and with no issues. I put minor and ongoing. Originally the teeth were cleaned and 4 extracted. This cured the problem---for awhile. Now the very yellow teeth and really red gums are creeping back. Right now this is minor. If left it will not be. I predict vet visits for dental cleanings real soon. This looks to be an ongoing practice; especially if I want to keep Zoe healthy. So yes, I guess my answer is minor health issue but ongoing.
