  1. We meet with the oncologist Tuesday as well... after her 2 week checkup. So I guess we will find out then.
  2. Update: Nights are going well. She still has to get up earlier than normal to pee, but I think that's from the meds making her drink more. Good news is her last antibiotic is tonight, and her last pain med is tomorrow morning! Then it's through the weekend and to her appt Tuesday!
  3. Welcome and thx for the extra cheering! We can always use it. Carmen is definitely reaping the treat benefits!
  4. Update: Next Tuesday is Amelia's 2 week follow-up visit! She will also be done all meds at that point. Today we got a decent amount of snow... probably a good 6 inches. Amelia is not a fan of snow in general. She does not like going out in it, period. We have managed to survive going out. in fact she almost ran up the hill in the backyard to get to her poop area. I had to run top keep up! So glad today is going well! Also, her incision area looks perfect. Everything looks great. All swelling and even redness is completely gone. She also seems to be sleeping better... longer periods of sleep, less restlessness. Go Amelia!
  5. Thank you. I just read an article saying it may surface 3-6 months post surgery. I hope she doesn't experience this, but if so, we will help her deal with it.
  6. Oh! And we are down to just 2 meds! 1 once a day, the other 2x a day!
  7. Whew… I thought OH NO when I read the title! ‘Good thing her ear grew back!
  8. Tomorrow is the 1 week mark. So we made it to that. That 2 week mark (I think ) is going to be great… follow-up, stitches out, meds done. She seems a bit more subdued the last 36 hours… we are wondering if she isn’t hurting so much now and is finally able to relax and rest. We also wanted to know if anyone had to deal with Phantom leg pain? If so, what did you do for it? I don’t think she’s experiencing this, but if she did, it would be good to know what to expect and what to do to help. Today has been better overall for us mentally. I wouldn’t mind another day or 2 off from work, but it is what it is. Thanks again everyone!
  9. Trazadone. We were told we could give it "as needed". Hopefully we don't need it anymore. Girl takes enough meds right now. Such an off day... the hubby broke down and cried this evening... he was holding that in for a while now. I was actually glad he got it out. I went out with my cousin today. I thought it would help but I just felt angry. Tomorrow is another day... and probably a better one. Thanks for listening gang.
  10. Update: Today started out a little rough. Missed an appt (not important) and while I was watching Amelia, she was off… laying a bit lifeless and shaking. I don’t know what that was… why the hubby came home she jumped up as if nothing had happened. We did give her Tramadol overnight… she is very anxious overnight so the hubby decided to give her one to get her to sleep… and let him get some sleep. It’s almost like it never wore off today. Hoping it was just one of those days that she was off. They can’t all be great days I guess. I don’t think we will do the Trazadone anymore… seems to really mess with her.
  11. I hope you all don’t mind them… Folks have been asking but I know you all truly can appreciate them.
  12. Night #3 done! The hubby stayed with the girls again. He said it was the best night so far. She slept a lot. She has also become efficient with getting up and down, and the yelping is almost completely gone away. Her underside is a little saggy from the surgery/fluid? But it is minimal and doesn’t seem to be a concern. Eating and potty breaks are still going great! She seems very much like her old self I can’t wait till she is able to do her zoomies again with Carmen!
  13. I’m so proud of her. And she seems like her happy go lucky self… wagging her tail, and that doggy smile on her face.
  14. Night #2 in the books... The hubby stayed down with the girls again last night. Amelia slept pretty well for a good part of the night. She is needing to go out for potty breaks on occasion. More poop has happened this morning which is good. Appetite is still very good. She is pulling us far out in the yard which is pretty amazing. Our yard is pretty hilly and she is bounding up the hills. The poor hubby seems to have gotten a cold or possibly the flu though. Hoping he gets through that quickly.
  15. Wow! Well I’m not surprised… she is scarfing down pretty much anything you put in front of her! Such a trooper
  16. Update! Amelia pooped this evening! For what she’s gone through, and all the medication she is on it was a decent poop. Woohoo!
  17. More updates: Her poor front paw is a little swollen, so we were instructed to use a warm compress and massage it a bit. She pretty much eats anything you put in front of her so that’s great. Harness: it arrived! Dumb question: which way does it go on? I am assuming the thicker end with the buckle is the front?
  18. She has always been faster than Carmen… I am wondering if she still will be!
  19. I wish there wasn’t the yelps, but not much I can do about that… I’m just going to have to be patient. Very good start here. And her stitches and side look great as well… no change from yesterday when we picked her up. The only time at the moment she needs a little help is getting up from the couch. I think even the beds on the floor are easier since they don’t have a pitch to them.
  20. Update: We all survived night #1! Amelia was great! She ate a FULL meal last night! Meds went well. Potty breaks are going well… she does yelp when she is trying to get up. But the discharge consultation warned us of this. It is quick and that’s it. The hubby slept downstairs with her and Carmen. He said there was some musical chairs that went on, but Amelia was able to settle in decent and slept for a good chunk of the night. This morning she ate her full breakfast and got outside to potty on leash. She is being such a trooper ———————————————— Our neighbor also insisted we keep her minivan for a few days in case we need to rush her to the ER… she is such a sweetheart. We met her when her 2 greys were alive. I will say again the greyhound community is so amazing… probably the best fur kids parents we’ve ever met. @ramonaghan Will check the mail today for the harness!
  21. The discharge papers did say she may not poop for a few days. One thing I saw was “don’t be surprised if she is depressed”… that makes me want to cry Don’t know what I can do to help that except try and give her extra love and treats.
  22. Minivan was a life saver. Only thing I wish we had done was put an actual bed in it and not the travel ones… didn’t have enough fluff. I think the yelp is her being scared for one reason or another… lost a limb, confused, was in a strange place, all of the above. Carmen seems ok… she stiffed the crap outta her when we first comae in, especially the stitched area. But then she was more concerned with dinner time which is pretty typical for her. Just gave Amelia some chicken salad. She enjoyed that and just glad she ate something. We will need to get her meds in her this evening. Thank you all for all the help and support! My next goal is to get through this first night.
  23. Ok we made it home… I built the first time seeing her as a tripod up to be so bad, that when I saw her it wasn’t bad. I didn’t freak out, cry, etc. The tech went over all her meds, care, etc before we left. The only thing they mentioned was she would let out a cry or yelp once in a while when she moved. They weren’t sure why as she shouldn’t be in pain. Thought is she’s anticipating pain, scared or just very sensitive. Or just unsure of the whole situation. Hopefully now that she’s home she will feel better about it. ———————————————————————————— As for us? I am feeling ok right now. Glad we got her and got over the initial “seeing her” part. And glad the ride home is over. She was very uneasy and didn’t want to lay down. I will be working from home tomorrow so I can be with her all day.
