I can definitely see that. I hope the “Amelia” does come out more and more. So crazy thing happened last night! We have been carrying her up the big set of stairs at night. There are 9 stairs. Amelia does NOT like to be carried. So what does she do? She flies up the stairs on her own!!! It took us by surprise and we both held our breath… but she made it, and did it well! We were going to use the helper harness and see if she wanted to walk down herself this morning, but she didn’t, so my hubby carried her down. I think we will continue to offer that in the mornings. Go Amelia!

No, it’s not for everyone for sure. I had a woman at my barn tell me not to do it and she’s a vet tech. I just told her thank you for her thoughts and made my own decision. It’s a tough decision… I was so torn, but now I am so glad we went this route. She is so much like the Amelia we love already. I look forward seeing her do her thing when she’s really comfortable with her new self.

I feel as if we didn’t do what needed to be done right away she wouldn’t be with us today. I am grateful for the vets wanting to get her in asap and move forward.

UPDATE.... HUGE UPDATE! Today marks 1 month since surgery.... And Amelia ran across the yard after some deer on the other side of the fence!!!!! I truly got teary-eyed seeing this!

It’s not where the IV was. Honestly I think she just decided to lick a spot. Sometimes she gets “hot spots”.

So the hubby is able to pick her up and carry her upstairs now, so he brought her up for the night. The girls were SOOOOOOOO happy to be upstairs! Amelia jumped right up on the bed and never moved during the night. We did carry her downstairs in the morning. Food and water bowl were moved back into the kitchen… we are trying to get back to the normal routine with Amelia. Only negative I can say right now is she has licked a raw spot on her front left leg. Not sure if it was bothering her, or if she got a rub or something there and then she licked it raw. Will have to monitor that.

Bloodwork came back good!

Update: Amelia went to the reg vet for bloodwork... making sure white blood cell count is good after the chemo. We should have those results in a day or 2. She also let my husband carry her up the big set of stairs so she could hang out with him and Carmen while he worked.

Turned around this morning and she had hopped up the 5 steps to her favorite spot in the living room.

Looks like it worked! Cool, now I can post pics of my sweet tripod.

@ramonaghan I forgot! I bought those shirts! They fit PERFECT! Just sewed up the one hole and she was good to go!

Amelia is still doing great! Today marks 3 weeks since surgery. She started playing with her favorite toy again. That is so nice to see. We have left her off leash more and more in the yard… she seems to appreciate being able to poop in peace.

I can’t believe how agile Willa is in that one video!

Give her some time and she will turn that bopping into zoomies!

UPDATE: 4 days first chemo treatment… Amelia has been great! ONLY little thing I can say is she’s been a little pickier than normal with food. She is still healing fantastic! We have been letting her off the leash for a little bit in the yard… we make sure the neighbor’s dog isn’t out (they like to run the fence line) and no deer in sight. She has done very well bopping along and not flying down the hill to come in. TODAY she came up one of the sets of 5 stairs on her own like it was nothing!

That’s fantastic! Poor Amelia had lost 8 teeth so far… she doesn’t seem to have good teeth and gums. Carmen has much better teeth but bad breath?

Perfect bed fail
