  1. My mom and my step dad loaded him up and took him to see the vet. So we'll see what they find.
  2. He's not choking anymore and he is actually his old self barking and running around. We searched everywhere in the living room which is where he was at when he came up to us choking. There are not children in the house, just two adults and then me when I come to visit. We looked around at any of the knick knack he could have reached and we came up empty. We can't find anything out of place.
  3. Right not the dog is fine. He is walking and breathing and acting himself. BUT about 5 minutes ago my mom's australian cattle dog ate SOMETHING. We don't know what it was but it was but we are sure it was it was something solid and not edible. He started choking and wasn't breathing for around 15-20 seconds. I was going to do CPR, rolled him on his side/back but he started breathing on his own. Then he let out a loud burp. We were going to induce vomiting but decided against it due to us not knowing what it was and if it would do more damage coming back up. Should be take him to the vet or wait and see what he does. If we are to wait and see, what should be waiting and watching for. Also we my mom lives in a small town and there are no E-vets within 45 minutes of her home.
  4. Welcome from Indiana! I can't wait to see pics of your houndies!!!!! My husband and I are also waiting for our first hound. I've been stalking the hounds of GreyTalk for close to a year now. Good luck and I can't wait to see them! Are you getting girls, boys or 1 of each?
  5. I really don't know where to start. First I will say that I am sorry for your loss. Of course I don't fully understand your loss because I have not been choosen by a greyhound yet, but someday I willl. What I will tell you you is how I started my early Saturday morning. I got off work at 11:15pm and got to my house at 12:00am. I logged onto GT where I read your post then I stalked you and look up previous post which lead me to the Story of Gus that started in 2004 and carried into 2005 and then which carried into 2012. It is now 2:20am and I have spent pretty much the better part of 2.5 hours familiarizing myself with who "Gus" is. While I was reading the thread, I went through so many emotions during the 42 page thread of the Apprehension of Gus that I felt like I had actually lived it. I laughed, I chuckled, I cried when he was hit by a car, I CURSED, I snorted in laughter, and of course I cried at this stubborn grey that refused to go into the trap. I can't even imagine what it must of felt like to be actually involved the this rescue such as Nicole, Diana, Michael, and everyone else involved. Since the thread was old not single picture loaded. I will never know what Gus looked like, but I know what he looked like in my mind, and I know how I cried silently at my computer trying not to wake my husband when I read that he had been apprehended not by a trap but by a few people, some medication, a collar, leash and a whole lot of love. I also remember reading that the thread was going to be closed because Gus had been caught and I cried at that too! I had just learned of Guss' cry for help to be saved, was saved, and then when on to the Rainbow Bridge all in one day! What I do know is that I now have and empty hole. I can't imagine the pain you are feeling! You had this greyt pal in your life for so many years and here I am only have knowing him for a few hours, in words only and I wept at his departure. I don't know why I really sent this. Mainly, just to let you know that your Gus actually touched someones heart the day they met (meaning me) and the day that he left, which was all in the same day! "I do not regret the things I've done, but those I did not do."
  6. Oh my! That's is really awesome. Looms like a greyhound body with a German short hair pointer coat!
  7. I just love the story of her life that you gave us. She seemed like a wonderful cat.
  8. I found these. I'm not sure if they are the same thing. http://www.petjoyonline.com/Martingale-All-in-One-Leash-and-Collar-p/col-0018.htm
  9. The question though is how long does this bag last you for 1 greyhound? I am interested to know how long one bag of food lasts for 1 greyhound. I know it depends on the amount served, but just and estimate is fine with me.
  10. So jealous I would love to get my hands on a whole deer for my husband and I! We love it. We like to try different types of meat. Right now in our freezer we have kangaroo, beaver, alligator, bear/elk burgers, and goat.
  11. It reminded me of the movie "The Thing". The. One with Kurt Russell.
  12. God, I knew I shouldn't have look at the picture. My stomach just did a flip. Now I'm saying to myself, "Why did you look, idiot"!?!?
  13. I would say the 48 would be perfect. I'm glad you guys are finally getting your grey! What group did you decide to go with? We are going to go with Greyhounds of Shamrock or GPA- Lexington.
  14. My husband and I are going to be adopting a greyhound within the next 6 months and I saw on another thread on Greytalk that Tractor Supply Co. is going to be having their dog crates 40% off. So I was wondering with NOT knowing what size of the greyhound that adopts us, would this be a good choice? Or chould should I go to the next size down. And is this a good price after a 40% discount? Eventually if our grey doesn't need to be crated we won't crate him/her. Here's the link to the crate I am interested in. http://www.tractorsupply.com/black-single-door-pet-crate-91-110-lb-weight-range-2401498
  15. I was totally wanting to go to that but of course my National Guard drill duty falls on the same weekend. This is the 3rd time I was wanting to go to a greyhound function and the National Guard had different plans for me.
  16. She is beautiful. I'm so jealous. I can't wait to get my first grey. Did you enjoy working with Shamrock? We might be going through them for our adoption.
  17. OMG!!! As soon as you said your greys name and I saw where you were from I knew you adopted from Shamrock! I've been a lurker for a few months now. My husband and I live in Madison, Indiana are wanting to adopt a grey soon, and Shamrock is on our list of possible groups to go with. Right now we are just looking. I got a new job and I'm looking to settle into my schedule and then we will move from there. Victoria Ann is so beautiful! I saw her on that site for quite a while. Congratulations on your new addition! I'll probably be picking your brain more about Greyhounds of Shamrock and how the whole adoption process went. Well congrats again!!!
  18. Good Luck in your adventure of finding a Grey for your home. My husband and I are currently doing the same. We will be first time Grey parents. By they way.....so jealous of where you live! I spent 4 days last year in St. Augustine and fell in love! The Spanish Moss in the trees are beautiful and the people are amazing! Love the town!!
  19. Once I looked up the term roaching, I was like, "Oh so that's what Wiggy our oldest cat is doing". Our other cat Obie, he is about 1.5 to 2 years old and just plan retarded. He will follow us through out the house, if you open a door he is in it. I actually lost him 2 days ago and couldn't find him anywhere for about 30 minutes. Walked into the kitchen and the other cat was just sitting in front of the pantry door staring as if something was wrong. Opened the door and out came Obie! Poor thing was in the pantry for about 30 mintues.
  20. Hello Everyone- Well I guess I should have started here first but I sorta made a few posts first. I'm a noob, just joined. I don't own a grey yet but my husband and I are in the very beginning of stages of the search. I'm reading a book on retire racing greys and we are just taking it real slow. I litte back history on us: We have been married for 4 years, he was in the the Navy for 6 years prior to us knowing each other. I was the Army (active duty) for 6 years and I am in currently in the Indiana National Guard, for a total of 14 years military service. We have no children, but 2 cats that keep us cracking up all the time. One of our cats will play fetch with a mouse or if we are sleeping and he is bored, we will normally wake up with a cat toy or 2, or 3 in the bed with us. So far greytalk has taught me a lot, please don't laught but I have had to look up the terms: rooing, roaching, and roman nose! But I love looking at everyones photos that they have posted and can't wait until I can post some of my own.
