  1. I've just heard about TDI and we have a testing in Wichita on the 14th...I'm going to sign up to go and take Bacardi. Can't wait! Heard about it last night and figured we would try it since she did so well on her CGC. I'd love for her to be a therapy dog. and she LOVES to do the DOWN command, she'd rather lay then sit, lol!
  2. Yes, she was bouncing to me like a mexican jumping bean! everyone thought it was hilarious!
  3. I haven;t heard of that test but I would love to do it wih her. She did wonderfully with the supervised seperation. she was happy as a clam socializing with the handler that took her outside. And she didn't jump at all Iwhich she loves to do) I was so proud!
  4. I was thinking of switching her to Iams. So, I should be adding, Chicken, Beef, Lamb? stuff like that? I was thinking of maybe adding in some Beetpulp. I used it on my horses and they always seemed to pick up more weight with it.
  5. She was on Pedigree puppy food, then I switched her to Innova puppy food, she didn't have a good reaction to it so I put her back on the Pedigree. She seems to do really well on the Pedigree (in reference to her tummy) I do add in Cottage Cheese with her meals along with the Coconut oil. I haven't thought about adding rice or veggies yet.
  6. We went to go take our CGC test today after finishing out obedience class! WE PASSED!!!!!! The evaluater for the test thought Bacardi was just a sweetheart! And loved her to pieces! We also met another greyhound who was also taking her test! Nice to see another one around here! She did wonderful for greeting a stranger, letting a stranger touch her feet, ears, brushing her. Did GREYT on her heeling and halts and watching me. I was so impressed with my girl! I was a little worried about our down/stays. We weren't allowed to touch our dogs at all when we did a sit...stay...down...stay...and then..Bacardis arch nemesis! the COME! When we practiced our comes on thursday she just sat there and looked at me (she has no recall whatsoever most of the time) well today during the test I put her in a down position, walked 10ft. away and in the my high pitched, squeaky voice I could I said, Cardi, COME! and in one fowl leap and bounced to me without her feet touching the ground! The tester and crowd got a huge laugh out of that one. and she was very excited to finish the rest of the test. She did wonderful and I am so proud of her! CGC is passed! Now, I think we may start doing some Rally work with her! Cannot wait! YAY!
  7. I wasn't sure if I should post this here or in the food tread area. So here goes, Bacardi will be a year old on November 11th. She is still very skinny and I can see her ribs, spine, and hip bones. She was treated for worms several weeks ago and also did an extra round for good measure. She is eating her Puppy food as normal but I have bumped her up to about 7 cups a day, (usually she eats 5 1/2) I know that the greyhound is a lean and muscular dog. Their metabolism is normally high. Also, the fact that she is technically still a pup too may be a contributing factor. But, When will she "fill out"? I mean, she is so skinny and she doesn't have that muscle covering over her hips at all. I actually had someone yell at me in the park while walking her yesterday " your Shepherd is emaciated, feed it!" I didn't retort to this person, and was in shock that someone thought she was a skinny german shepherd. But, that's beside the point. When will she begin to look like everyone elses greys? Right now she just looks ill and all the others I have seen look lean/fit/muscular and healthy. She just looks down right skinny!
  8. Hi there! I am also from Kansas!!!! Welcome!!! May I ask what part of Kansas you are from?
  9. I switched her back to the old food, she is still itchy and I knew there wouldnt be any sudden changes when I switched her back. I gave her a flea bath today (along with my other 2 dogs) and ddid find a few fleas with the comb after the bath (they were dead) and I have started putting the coconut oil on her food (took me 5 stores to find it!) But, I will keep you updated to see what happens! thanks for all the help!
  10. Might I add that I switched her over from eating Pedigree Puppy chow, to Innova Puppy Formula.
  11. Her energy level is the same, sometimes a ittle more crazy than usual. she has started chewing at her bum area and is missing a lot of hair around the base of her tail and she is red and irritated back there. also chewing at her back legs a lot as well. The other day I spotted a flea on her and I treated her for it, havent seen any since. maybe she has a flea allergy?
  12. I recenty changed dog food, Now Bacardi seems to have dry, itchy, flaky skin. Do you think this could be because of the change in food? or because the weather is getting cold/dry?
  13. Update. Just got back from the vet. I do have to say that I love my vets office as I just walked in without a phone call to warm them of our arrival. They got her in right away, did not charge us for the office visit ($36) or the fecal exam test ($20) that is great news for my wallet! 15 minutes later I was told Hook Worms and Whip Worms were the culprit! I couldnt not believe it! stunned to say the least as she has always been on a preventative. Poor girl! gave me the dewormer (1 pill now and 1 pill 3 weeks from now) Also have to treat all the other animals in the house as well. I am happy to know that it is not parvo! thank god! I wonder how long she has had them because they sais it may be the reason her tummy has been so sensitive. either way I am glad she is ok. also to weigh in on the vaccine chit chat, I did not take her to my vet to be vaccinated, I always vaccinate my own animals and the only reason I take thm for a vaccine is for a rabies (because legally I cannot administer it myself)
  14. well, we are off to the vet, please send good vibes. the past few days Bacardi has had severe/watery poo. She usually gets a very upset tummy because of eating something she shouldnt have and it goes away after a day or two but now it has progressed to the point where she is now pooping just blood. I'm really not sure what this could be. I recently vaccinated her on wednesday and she got ill shortly afterwards, maybe it's a reaction? anyway, we will know more when we go to the vet as soon as they open this morning. wish us luck.
  15. wow, this makes me scared to get my new doberman puppy neutered when he is old enough! yikes!
  16. good afternoon, Well she seems to be acting better today and she is active and playing, eating and drinking, poo is still very runny and I called vet to ask and make sure I'm doing eberything correctly. I just got a litter nervous about the parvo thing cause soooo many puppies have gotten it here recently and none of them have pulled through. I'd hate to lose her. anyway, he has recommended switching her slowly over to a prescription diet, and I am going to try it and see how it goes. Thanks for all the advice on the subject, I really appreciate the friendliness of everyone here and your willingness to lend and ear and some advice!
  17. I will have to do that in the morning since the office is closed. she has only eaten one meal today so I'm not sure where all this poo is coming from. she isnt acting sick she is still playing and active, so not sure, we have had an outbreak of parvo around here this month and its been bad, so not sure if I should be watching for that too since she still have one more in her series to go until fully vaccinated. Has she been drinking enough water? The reason that I ask is if she has diarrhea she will loosing fluids and she can easily get dehydrated. As to firm up the poop, you can keep on giving the rice and chicken or give noodles with hamburger (not too much fat). If the poop is still water tomorrow AM then you will need to probably get her to the vet sooner rather than later especially with an outbreak of parvo in the area. edited to add .. also, if you are going to give her rice, make it white rice rather than brown as the brown can be harder to digest. and Yes, I have been making sure she drinks plenty of water, and if she is still like this in the morning I am taking her to the vet right away. noodles are okay to give? thank you,

  19. like the pull cheesesticks for kids? The cheese ones that they sell in regular grocery stores - they are about 6 inches long and about 1/2 inch wide. Try just one and see if your dog has a reaction to the dairy - some dogs will get diarrhea. do you know what I can give her to settle her tummy? She has semi-solid poo this morning and now it is back to being like water.
  20. I will have to look online then, would save me the gas money if I didnt have to make a wasted trip to Omaha!
