Friends with benefits
Thanks Trudy

Gail Dr Couto will respond very quickly to you. He is consulting with my vet about Finn and keeping me in the loop as well
Finn's needle aspiration was practically painless for him. He got tramadol for the first 3 days but I am not sure he even needed it. I would not hesitate to do that for Snickers.

Poor Lilah. It was great to see her so relaxed and happy on Saturday.
She is such a fluffy cutie pie
for pain relief.
I am so sorry.

No advice... just thoughts and prayers
Had Kingsley needed to have had bone removed from above his eye in Feb, Karen Pastor at the Mass Vet Referral Hosp in Woburn would have been who would have done it. We think very highly of her and her bedside manner and talent at her surgical techniques.
I have met with Dr Pastor in the past with Finn. She is very sweet and a good friend of my vet.
I have seen significant growth since 4/22 Finn has an appt on Monday. We will see what the doctor says and go from there.

Didn't LynnM's boy go through a horrible bone infection?

Did you email Ohio State?
Yes Dr Couto is involved.

Good news.... It's NOT cancer
... it is infectious/inflamatory. Culture revealed a common bacteria that can be treated with a wide spectrum of antibiotics.
Bad news... if that doesn't work then treatment is the same as bone cancer... amputation.. Finn is NOT a candidate for amputation as he has a very compromised right leg.
Dr Couto is still on the case and consulting with my vet for the best treatment options.
that the antibitics work :luck
Has anyone had a dog with a bone infection that was treated surgically? (We are talking removing the effected area of bone and implanting bone from hip.)
Specifically I would like to know
1 How painful was the proceedure?
2 Recovery time?
3 Was it successful?
.....and most importantly, in hindsight, would you do it again if you had to?

I found a good test of corn pain is to squeeze the pad from the sides... if they pull back you know it hurts.
Good luck... we live in corn hell here too.

If that is what you think it is try giving her a piece of bread. It may help push and foreign matter down her throat.

My Wink has just started her "seasonal" hacking. She has done this every spring. I am guessing that it is some allergen that is aggravating her throat she hacks and gags, then it's over.
