  1. I feed my two Greyhounds (Ages 9 and 10) Iams (Blue bag) for dogs over 9 yrs of age. Lot of "poops" but solid. Any suggestions of a dog food (kibble) that would be good for them and keep their poop solid?
  2. Wasn't sure how to reply to a reply re itching-I posted that but I have one white and one black Greyhound. No sign of fleas but I may change anyway. Thanks for the input. By the way, I graduated from Lejeune High - a LONG time ago...
  3. Both of my Greyhounds have been biting/itching the top of their tails and top of their back sides. I've washed their beds, been to the vet, they've taken antibiotics, they are on Frontline and hearworm medication and I ((or anyone) can't figure out what the problem is. I changed them to Iams (green) a few months ago and it seems to be working well. Their poo is solid. Was giving them Milk Bones as treats and stopped that yesterday (Saturday-Sept. 19). Anyone had this problem?
  4. I have had my 12 yr old male on Meloxicam (1/2 tablet) for about 4-5 months - every other day. When we get into the card to go for a ride, he gets so excited he poops in the car (fun!). He never did this before and I was wondering if anyone knows if this could be a side effect of the Meloxicam. He takes it because he has LarPar - to help him breathe.
  5. Does anyone use Royal Canin food for their Grey(s)? If you do, do you like it? What type? Thanks, dchope
  6. From dchope, Thanks again for your replies. I read a lot about Lupus and autoimmune problems before I went to the vet. I'll share this information with him.
  7. Thank you for your replies. I'll discuss them with my vet. When I took Po in initially he said he didn't think it was Lupus but I'm sure he'll check it out again. She doesn't eat out of plastic bowls.
  8. My Greyhound, Po, has pigment loss on her nose and it doesn't seem to subside. I received an ointment from the vet (can't remember the name-Will post it later) and it has minimal effect. Her ears have 2 "spots" on the same location of each ear. It is a dry, scabby spot. In the photo it is in the small flap area of each ear-Exactly the same place. The nose issue began 6 months ago with a slight redness on top of the nose and got progressively worse. I have moved her outdoor bed under a tree and it seems to help a little. The vet advised that it was similar to "Collie" nose and told me to return if it didn't get better. Obviously, I will do that soon. She eats Taste of the Wild - Bison and Venison and boiled chicken thighs. She is 5 years old. She has also been diagnosed with Pannus and takes compounded drops for that. Any information anyone can provide will be appreciated. Thanks
  9. My older Greyhound had the majority of the remainder of his teeth removed yesterday. Any suggestions for fast, nutritious recipes that I can cook large quantities of?
  10. I adopted my 3rd Greyhound(other 2 are deceased) 2 weeks ago. She is 2 1/2 years old. I have been feeding her Natural Balance Sweet Potato and Chicken. She was switched to this food about a week before I got her and had been on Costco ? Dog Food. Her stools were always loose and remain that way. I was giving her EVO wet food-1/3 can-with her dry and stopped that thinking it could be the wet food. I then mixed rice and freshly cooked chicken and that didn't work either. I now have her on just Natural Balance with a few pieces of fresh chicken on top. Note: She "escaped" from someone's yard and was missing for 5 days. Thank goodness she was found - 5 lbs less in weight - but otherwise healthy. She was checked for Giardia with negative results. Any ideas? I never had this problem with my previous Greyhounds (both boys)
