  1. I just went through this exact scenario with my Shilo. When she could no longer get herself up and was clearly in a panic because of it, I took her to the vet. (She had been in weekly for accupunture treatments, so they knew her problem.) One foot kept knuckling under and they thought she might have had a stroke. They tried for two days to help her get over it, but it became obvious that she needed to be set free. I was able to sit with her for a while at the end, but I'm not certain she knew I was there. Maybe. Edited to add, that's Shilo, in my avatar photo.
  2. Shilo used to walk away from half her meal every time UNTIL I started putting a half cup or so of boxed chicken stock on her food just before I set it in front of her. Patty Shilo - yummmmmmmm Maverick - more peanut butter please Jesse - Maverick, stay away from my bowl
  3. When I've taken my greys to obedience, we spent the first week on eye contact, the second on sit, the third on down, with some walking at heel at each class, learned the "leave it" command somewhere in there, the fourth week on stay, etc. I think your trainer did way too much for one class. Patty
  4. A muzzle with a stool cup will do the trick. Patty Maverick - I'm not a poop eater. Jesse - I'm not a poop eater. Shilo - quit looking at me!
  5. My Jesse had a thing like that beside his left eye and it did turn out to be a histiocytoma. He barely has a scar now. And, he was a very good boy and didn't bother the stitches, so he didn't need to wear the big cone. Patty Shilo - I would have made you keep the cone. Jesse - Yes, I am a good boy. Maverick - What cone? Did I know you then?
  6. All of my hounds have always followed me everywhere, except for my current eldest, Shilo. Patty Shilo - zzzzzzzzz . . what? Jesse - I'll walk on your right so you can rub my face as we go. Maverick - I escort you everywhere to make sure you're OK.
  7. I can't speak to "the result of this dietary anomaly," (love that phrase), but probably, your houndie would respond to a firmly delivered "drop it" command. My girl Peacock was very disappointed with having to give up her drop her prize, but she did it. Patty Shilo - what;s a mouse? Maverick - I only watch for squirrels. Jesse - I'm fond of butterflies.
  8. Yelp like it hurt, turn your back on him and move away. He'll get the point. Patty
  9. The picture of Rita sitting on Daddy's lap is precious. It does look like a corn to me, but hopefully more expert eyes will give their opinions. Patty
  10. I"m glad to hear good news! All fingers and paws here are crossed for continued healing. Patty Norse - rooooooooooo Peacock - ROOOOOOOOO Shilo - rooooo oooooOOO
