Oh Anna, I am so very very sorry. Lucy is one of those dogs that's always been here, I will miss hearing about her. My thoughts are with you and Mr. GreytLucy.

The first thing that came to my mind was CHF. Does he cough at all? I remember all that he's been through and know that it's really an amazing thing that he's still alive! Big hugs to your old man, he's always been one of my favorites here on the board, cause he's a survivor!

Cheese! Cheese is constipating. I don't find anything at all about Flagyl interacting with any other antibiotics at all. It's not uncommon to have a human on two or more antibiotics if needed, However, I would probably not give them both until I talked to a vet. You can always call a pharmacist for drug info, most will be happy to help, but that's only info, they won't suggest or prescribe for animals. Pumpkin and metamucil will also help firm up poop. (and both will help eliminate constipation, they work like that!)

My vet uses it and says that it works VERY well as she's had some dogs bitten by rattlers who have had the shot and survived without a whole lot of vet care, though any snake bite needs to be seen by a vet. A friends 2 greyhounds had the vaccine several years in a row and did not have any reaction to it at all and they were geriatric dogs. The mohaves this year are very bad and very aggressive. We did lose a dog in this area (not a greyhound and not mine) who had had the vaccine and it didn't really seem to help much. But Mohaves are very nasty snakes with nasty nasty bites.

What a precious little girl, I'm so glad that she's safe and her injuries and surgeries are healing!

I moved to Arizona from Ohio and thankfully all my dogs have adjusted well to the heat! They go outside and will stay out and bake in the sun even if it's 100 degrees outside, so I have to watch and limit them. I keep my air at 85 in the summer and they don't even seem to notice that it's warmish in the house! I make sure that they have lots of cold clean water to drink inside and out and I do monitor their time out in the heat. We spend time on our deck, but it's covered and they lay in the shade. Maybe you could put a tarp up on a corner of your deck to give the dogs some shade?

Awe Tonya, I was so hoping that there would ba a fix for Mr. Red. He's such a very special boy and I know he's had a wonderful life with you and your family. It's better to know what's going on, even though the news isn't good. Big hugs to you and your DH and soft hugs and many many kisses to Red.

Oh Tonya, I just don't even know what to say. Please hug him tightly for me and give him many many kisses and love and tell him how much I love him.

The Homer Simpson sent me into giggles! I had a foster once who puked up a bunch of chewed up plastic and of crud... vet says that sometimes stuff will stay in their stomachs for weeks and weeks and weeks ... seems his previous foster family didn't feed him enough and he would eat anything at all to make his tummy feel full. Poor boy, I loved him so much!

Giving them a human asprin is off label too, but it's done every day. The cost of things is a huge factor, for groups and for individuals as well.

Please don't tell me you really do that---they are sold as fish antiobotics because they were expired or otherwise labeled unfit for sale. Some expired ab's are actually dangerous and harmful to use. Actually, having spoken to several vets and pharmacists, distributors etc. I don't believe this is true. It's illegal to sell out dated drugs for any medical reason to the general public, even for fish. And yes, I know that some of the rescue groups use these for dogs. My own vet knows I have some of these in the house in case I need them and she's not available and she has no problem with it at all.

My Frasier had vestibular syndrome and he also had seizures. I always felt that the two were related, though it's not supposed to work that way. His seizures were pretty bad from the get-go, with his post ictal stage lasting for several hours with him snoring away in a very very deep sleep. He took phenobarb that did control his seizures pretty well, thankfully. He'd be laying down and the next thing I'd know, my female hounds would run to him and I'd know it was a seizure, he's look control of his bladder and have his seizure for a minute or so and then get up and stumble around for a bit until he lay down and fell asleep in his post ictal state. He passed young, but from something totally unrelated to either seizures or vestibular. I have a blind dog who has vestibular and has it pretty bad. He's had 3 vestibular incidents and each one has taken him longer to get over. The first one was a few days to get over and the last one took months for him to get over. I worry that he won't get over the next one if there is one. Good luck with Athena, now is the time to find her a good vet for her seizures, and I, personally, would ask for something to control her seizures at this point.

Oh my goodness! What a lucky boy to survive that, just amazing. Many prayers for him for a quick and full recovery and for you as well.

OMG, what a terrible thing to happen. I will be praying for a quick and non-traumatic/dramatic recovery for the poor girl.

I have used Zantac (generic) and I have used Pepsid (generic) and I have used prilosec (generic) with great results and no poop problems with any of them. The reason I prefer Prilosec is because it's a once a day dose and easier for me and the dog, esp. if you have to pill the dog who won't take it in food. But usually with these things, if one bothers the dog (or human for that matter) you try one of the others. Good luck!

Took a month for results, but it worked very well for my Lulu for quite a while. I paid 10$ for 3 months supply of 20mg caps at safeway.

I've had several dogs who have had vestibular issues. My Lynch has had several VERY severe bouts of it. They take a while to come back, last one (was the 3rd bad one) took him almost 6 months or better to be back to 90%. So keep on working with Valor, he'll come back and it won't be 6 months hopefully.
