  1. My heart is heavy today after learning about Buck - he was truly one in a million and the greyhound world is better for it.
  2. Dearest Jan, I am so very sorry, my heart breaks for you I have no words, just please know that I admire you more than words can say for your unconditional love for the houndies in need. You are their hero ..........
  3. I cried last night when I found out. Totally not fair But, I believe he was sent to you for a reason, he lived his life with gusto and zest, you let him be his own dog, you didn't try and fit him into a mold that wouldn't have worked. He packed a whole lot of life into 7 short years and he loved you. Godspeed Sweet and Best Boy................
  4. No, not a new houndie for me, just trying to make some arrangements with new dogs and vetting for my group :-) Thanks!
  5. I known this is an odd question, how long should you wait to teach a newly neutered dog how to do stairs? Thanks in advance :-)
  6. As a person who gets horrible motion sickness, I feel for Mason If I cannot be the driver, I have to take something. I have had good luck with meclazine (Bonine) but I am not sure if that is okay for dogs. When I fly, I have to take meclazine and dramamine. I do know that fresh air helps me a lot, I have been known to travel with the window down even when it's cold outside.
  7. So very, very sorry. A beautiful tribute to a beautiful relationship. I am so sorry Henry had to leave, Godspeed sweet and wonderful boy.
  8. So very sorry for the loss of your wonderful boy. A beautiful tribute.
  9. Oh Jan.......I am so, so sorry about Andy. A beautiful tribute to a wonderful boy. I know your time together was short, but what joy and love you had Whew....it's been a tough week Godspeed Andy
  10. So very sorry for your loss, what a beautiful girl Godspeed Tigger
  11. How do you put 6 years of joy and happiness into words? My sweet girl has earned her wings, she was an absolute joy in my life and my heart is broken. I will always love you. Until we meet again my Raina Baina Boo..............
  12. Happy Birthday Seamie We all miss you, but I just know in my heart that you are happy and well at the bridge, watching over your mom and the campers
  13. I have used it, I didn't notice any significant improvement in "high" anxiety situations, but I may not have kept my dogs on it regularly enough. I love the other Springtime products, and would suggest giving it a try and keeping them on it on a regular basis. I don't know that it's made for situational use, but more as a daily supplement. Hope that helps
  14. I just did this last week for Raina, took the frame away and just boxspring and mattress on the floor-it has made a huge difference for her getting on and off the bed. She too hurt herself about 2 weeks ago getting on/off the bed. My bedroom isn't quite big enough for a good set of stairs, so like DesiRayMom, if necessary, we will remove the box springs
  15. I had a very similar problem a few years back, here is a thread that started about fear of a dishwasher, but the training tips are the same http://forum.greytalk.com/index.php/topic/264880-dishwasher-phobia/?hl=%2Bfear+%2Bwashing+%2Bmachine&do=findComment&comment=4793939
  16. I am so very, very sorry, my heart just breaks for you Sweet Shana was so very loved, the heavens have a bright new star. Big giant hugs to you
  17. So glad to hear that he is getting better!!
  18. Is he moving air ok? Are his gums a good pink color? If so, you might be able to wait it out, Emmi had a bad couple of hours too and I almost took her to the evet, but she eventually settled down, she didn't want to really eat that night either. I did do a little light massage to her neck and that seemed to soothe her a little too. Hugs to you both, it must be scary with the bad weather on top of it.
  19. I was very concerned, even took her to the vet, she seemed like she had something stuck in her throat, really gagging, hacking etc, seemed like she was trying to expel something, but it didn't happen all the time, just occasionally. Vet looked her over, didn't scope, but looked pretty deep and didn't see anything so I started thinking about anything new or different in her diet and that's when I eliminated the coconut oil. I hope it solves your problem
  20. I know this may sound weird.....but do you give him coconut oil? One of my girls started this weird gagging shortly after I started them on it, once I stopped giving it to her, it stopped. I think she may have been allergic?
  21. Oh Jan - I am so sorry. What a lucky lady she was to land at Camp Greyhound. Another bright star in the heavenly skies I am quite sure she and Seamus enjoyed a wonderful reunion.
  22. What about doggie "junk food", I know this won't be a popular suggestion, but I know some of the cheaper dog foods are similar to our human junk food in a dogs mind. What about trying, kibbles and bits or gravy train, etc? I have been at my wits end before too, and I have used the cheap foods mixed with good ones to try and stimulate an appetite. If the choice is a little junk food versus starvation, I choose junk food. to both of you.
