  1. Dr. Scholl's makes a product called Molefoam. Great stuff. It has a layer of moleskin backed with foam. You may find it with the foot care products. Just cut to size you want, pull of the backing, and stick into place.
  2. And here I thought you'd been to the Iowa State Fair!
  3. Sweet Pea loved Stella & Chewy's freeze dried patties. She would eat them either dry or rehydrated, broken up into little bits. When she turned up her nose at her regular food, I ground the dry patties into dust and sprinkled it over the food. Voila! She ate it.
  4. The scourge of skwirls has struck in my backyard. Miss Lily got hold of a not-very-bright squirrel just a little while ago. It was trying to escape by running up a drainpipe between the garage and DH's stock tank that he collects rainwater in. Lily jumped up, bumping the pipe. Squirrel fell into the stock tank, climbed out, and took a leap directly into Miss Lily's jaws. There was some tussling on the ground, during which I was hollering "drop it". Squirrel finally escaped and ran up the nearest tree. During this, Miss Lily was bitten and/or scratched. She has what look like scratches on her muzzle, and a small open sore that I'm guessing might be a bite just below her right front wrist. I cleaned everything up, and bandaged the open wound with bacitracin, covering it with a gauze square and vetrap. There appears to be no more bleeding from her snout, but she is licking her lips a lot, leading me to believe she may have been scratched on her gums. She is currently wearing her muzzle with poo guard, giving me lots of stinkeye. Owner has been notified, and said good for Lily! She is current on shots. Is there anything else I should do?
  5. We used a DAP collar with Miss Raven. I have an unused extra here that I'd be happy to send you. Just send an e-mail to EddiesMom15 @ hotmail.com, without the spaces.
  6. Beautiful pupper. Love those four white feeties!
  7. I hate cancer. It has taken far too many wonderful hounds before their time. Will keep you and Tilly in my thoughts.
  8. A friend of mine who hunts gave us a bonanza of deer hearts, livers, and lungs. I could use some recommendations on how long to dehydrate them. The hearts were sliced 1/4 to 1/3 of an inch thick. They are in the dehydrator at 160 degrees now. I rotate the trays every hour. Edited to add: We do not have Chronic Wasting Disease in this area.
  9. Congratulations on your new collar model! You're probably too young to remember the song "Clap for the Wolfman" by the Guess Who. But I will clap for him anyway!
  10. I like Olewo beets and carrots. Plain yogurt also works, but takes longer.
  11. Some friends of mine did when they lived in bear country. However, after reading the article I agree that there's something rotten in Wyoming. I've been chased by dogs many times while cycling, never were the dogs silent. Run free, Mike.
  12. Have you tried using vinegar in place of fabric softener?
  13. Worked with Foster Dudley today on jumping into the back of our Focus. Tired of lifting him in. Showed him a piece of lamb lung, then tossed it in before he could eat it. He went right in after it. Now all I have to do is keep the treat jar in the car!
  14. I am so sorry. There's nothing I can say or do right now to fill the hole in your heart left by Beth. Please know you are not alone, many of us are holding you in our thoughts.
  15. Thanks for the advice. Local vet (not our group vet who is a 100 mile round trip) checked out the cast, cut off the old vet wrap, and replaced it with pretty blue wrap that matches the blue diamonds in her collar! For those who are wondering, since this is a foster situation I did discuss it with our group president first. Since it was my choice not to go to the group vet, and not medically necessary, I covered the cost, which was minimal.
  16. Missy PeeBee's right hock is in a cast, and probably will be until early July. Despite my efforts, the wrap covering her cast has become pretty dirty and tattered. Is this something I can re-wrap myself, or should I have a vet do it?
  17. I'm wondering about this too. We noticed some of MissyPeeBee's subdermal sutures looking 'poky' from her spay. Gussing we're paying more attention to them because she's a world class roach hound!
  18. We saw a difference in Miss Kapow's stools within two days of beets & carrots. From very soft messy oudding poo to well formed stools that could be picked up with one hand.
