  1. Thanks DIck, maybe if they had used live bait for the races, Blizzard would have done better for two days she has been glued to our front window trying to get the bunnies in our front yard! Gotta love our pups! Have a great day! Janette
  2. thanks for doing this! Night Kansas ( new to us, but adopted to another family about 5-6 years ago) Canaan Blizzard (just retired...a Foster Fail for us...lol) Janette
  3. If you still have the Gabapentin and DAP collar available, I could use them for the Quints. Mamma Rio takes 300mg twice a day for a pinched nerve in her back (has been for over a year, along with Metacam and Tramadol), and Mr. Merlin uses a DAP collar and other meds for his anxiety. No worries if they have gone to someone else!
  4. Aside from what you have already done, with skin tears, our vet told us to get some Preparation H and put it around the outside edges of the wound to shrink the tissue so the wound would close up faster. Apply twice a day after you have cleaned the wound. I know it sounds weird, but it has worked with wounds like the one Teague has (Willy seems to always get skin tears like these...we would forever be going in for staples and stitches if we didn't know how to treat them ourselves). I am not sure if you recall that really large skin tear that Tiana had on her side a couple of years ago? the one that was the size of my hand on her flank that had to be left open and took 2 months to heal? that is how we learned about the Prep H.... The Crazy Quints send their love to Teague....hope he feels better soon...Janette
  5. I am so sorry this happened to you. Thank you for taking the time to write it. It truly is amazing how we can be surprised by our dogs and how quickly their instincts can kick in. With our Rio, it showed in the vet's office for the first time...up until then, she was very low prey drive, lives with 3 cats and a small dog, never showed interest in small dogs on walks etc...but suddenly across from us in a vet's office a small white dogs on an owner's lap startd yipping, and Rio became an entirely different dog...tense, pulling on her leash, starting intently at the dog, and almost frothing at the mouth...we knew if she got the dog, it would be dead. DH had to take her outside, and she was still pulling to get back inside to get at the dog. He kept her outside until the white fluffy was gone (she was there as a support for our other pup, Tiana, for her first vet appointment, as she is a spook). Since then, we keep Rio away from little white fluffies, but without that experience, we never would have known she had such powerful instincts because she is such a paid-back girlie.
  6. what a brave boy, and what amazing people at OSU for caring for him....keep strong Freddy, we are all praying for you....
  7. What a beautiful girlie she was, and how lucky she was to have her home with you...not everyone would have let her take her stuffies outside and then go get them for her to take out all over again! I am so sorry she had to leave you so soon. Run like the wind, Sweet Buffy...may there be all the stuffies you want where you are.
  8. I am so very sorry for your loss of beautiful Daytona...she was obviously quite a character, with a wonderful, playful personality who knew how to get what she wanted (I love pups who stamp their feet!). I am not sure what I love most, her deep brown eyes, her amazing ears, or the way she wore her pearls... Run like the wind, Miss Daytona, side by side with Bill, and find all those cookies...
  9. Oh, that picture of Jilly Bean standing on the table! Rainbowland will never be the same again... We are so very sorry for your loss of such a large spirit in such a small package. She was so well-loved by so many people and houndies....and many are grieving her loss. We will be sharing in her birthday celebration on Sunday evening, in honour of "The Bean". Hugs to you and your family, and gentle scritches to your pack.
  10. How heartbreaking for you...my thoughts are with you during this very difficult time. Run free, Billy...
  11. sweet, spunky Jilly Bean....keep taking life on your own terms, Little One! you and your family are in our thoughts...
  12. What a beautiful tribute to a very special boy. Such a heartbreaking loss for you and your family. I am so sorry you are all feeling such pain. Run free with the other Angels, Sweet Boy...

    Grief

It has been two years since my Little Kasie has passed away...I still kiss my lips and touch it to her picture next to her ashes to say goodnight every night... I still cry...less often now...and I can smile now when I think of her, too. It gets easier, but the grief never really goes away.....it just changes with time. Hugs to you during this difficult time...remember that you are not alone in this, even though it may feel that way sometimes.
  14. I am so very sorry for your loss of such a special boy...
