  1. Cletus, my sweet, you have certainly landed in the rite spot. A "flock" of chikkens, a "bucket" of chikken. Who knew that wot got kicked out of one home has made you (in)famous & well loved in the next. And we all know, this will be your last home. You ain't goin nowhare, mister. PS, Miss Jan, If you take him out in public with that bandana, you will surely have laryngitis from s'plainin KLTO to everyone.
  2. If ever I were to make a road trip to meet a houndie, this would be it. Trouble is, MsJan might end up with a couple more campers..............
  3. Hero & Shelby came to me at 10 yo with horrendous teeth. Over 20 teeth extracted between the 2 of them. Now we have a nightly routine........soft child's toothbrush with CET enzymatic toothpaste, then finish off with Chlor-Hex dental rinse on a gauze pad all over gumline. It's been almost 2 years, & no further dental work needed. Vet very happy with results.
  4. The Petunia Plant has inspired me to name one of mine.......The Shelby Saunter Hero & I like a nice brisk walk........Shelby, on the other hand, will . not . be . rushed . I am so enjoying hearing about her "broodie quirks"
  5. Special, special hound. My sincere condolences. Happy Trails, Summit. May your afterlife have everything you ever wanted, but never asked for.
  6. Dog sheets & towels!!!!!! Now, that's my kind of "find"
  7. I DESPISE rawhides, no matter where they come from. a past hound of mine tore off big chunks & swallowed them whole. World of gastric trouble. I have never given one since.
  8. Happy Trails, Trevor. As the eldest, I had such a soft spot for that sweet grey face. That beautiful gate at CampGreyhound........they arrive, they leave, each & every one is loved & doted on & shown what love/life is really all about. to MsJan & the campers.
  9. Ms Jan, it has been said that every soul you have loved & lost leaves a bit of themselves in our hearts. Good woman, your heart must be so big by now, I don't know how you breathe.... I'm sure DottieB has assured her original dad that the other girls are in a fine place & no need to worry. Oh, that when my time comes, I could be in such a fine, loving place. Happy Trails, DottieB, CampGreyhound was a fine place to end your bucket list.
  10. Bone broth, chicken bits, chopped boiled egg, shakey cheese. The things we do............
  11. My heart is broken for you. GT will not be the same without him. DesiRay attended his/Lexie's wedding & can attest to the fact that a greyt time was had by all. He slept for a week after that night in Vegas. We never stop missing them, but what a blessing it has been to be able to share their lives for as long as we can. Happy Trails, handsome Rocket.......may your afterworld be pain free, & full of french fries & ice cream.
  12. Great news!!!!!! Know that old saying "never let them see you sweat" ? Does knot apply for gh limpage.
  13. IMHO every hound over 8 should have bloodwork checked yearly. Catching a problem (kidneys/liver/etc) early is way better than not.
  14. Best wishes for a quick recovery for Stewie. My mind would have gone to exactly the same place yours did. Panic first, think it through later. Did you drive back from Fla? Maybe he just got "stoved up" from riding in the car for a long trip.
  15. My last foster was full of anxiety......anything/everything. What worked for us was Trazadone. 75mg 3x day, has worked wonders. I'm going to give him a few months to really settle in, then try weaning him off.
  16. " indignity of being lifted and put in might spur him to do it himself." this I have a big foster male who wouldn't jump in the back of my suv. No problem, I can lift 70lb ok. He never let me do it again. "I'll do it myself, thanks"
  17. I took in 2 senior fosters in October. The male has anxiety issues that manifest in diarrhea. He's getting trazadone for the anxiety (which is helping) but I have learned that when his poo gets "mushy", there's a bad spell coming on. So far, a couple of Metro500 helps head it off. I'm wondering if anyone has ever used Manuka honey to calm the tummy/intestinal tract. Seems logical to me. I'd rather use that if I thought it would help. TIA for any experience/advice
  18. I have a very anxious foster, who was prescribed 150 mg Trazadone 3x/day. Made him a zombie dog. On my own, I cut the dose in half......75 mg 3x/day, which is helping, but I better not be late with a dose........

    Cara

I'd like to add my condolences for the loss of your beautiful Cara. Your stories & her beautiful photos have inspired me over the years to become a better hound caregiver & a better photographer (which was/is a lost cause). May your heart be filled with peace just with the knowing that you have shared your life with this beautiful soul. Rest well, dear girl.
  20. What a beautiful memorial. Camp Greyhound can pack a whole lotta love in 28 days. Sweet Bruno was able to leave this earth in peace, knowing that he had a person who truly loved him that he could watch over & that he would never, ever, be forgotten.
  21. What a beauty!!!! Hope her health issues resolve quickly.....she's already made that sprint into your heart.
  22. Tracey, I'm so very sorry you've lost your most handsome Stan. Happy Trails, Stan........you know how much you were loved.......and wherever your beautiful soul is now, may the stuffies be endless.
  23. I also had an old dog for whom the oral supplements did nothing.......injections of B12 were an absolute miracle.
