  1. My thoughts are with you. She was so blessed to have you especially as a younger dog - when so many others wouldn't give her the chance.
  2. Our older boy, EZ never has played. He's a pretty serious fellow who would rather have a great ear rub. My Jack, who just passed, loved to run around and steal my shoes and move all of his toys around the house - as well as move all of his beds - he rearranged his furniture routinely. We just got our two new little ones....The baby does not play, but JJ is amazed by squeaking ducks....and he has figured out how to find the squeaker and squeak away.....even at 3:30 in the morning!!!
  3. Yogurt never hurts! You can give probably 1/3 of a tub a day (not the tiny tub) for a few days until his stools firm up. It is safe. Your vet might also be able to give you some flora - it usually is a powder for their food. I've used both at the same time w/good results.
  4. So sorry for your loss....
  5. Great news! Glad he's better.

    Dexter "bumpy"

I'm so sorry......It's always horrible to accept - but when they are young, it is just so tragic. It sounds like he brought you great joy.
  7. Heartbreaking. He never knew the joy of cuddling up in a bed with a human of his own.....but he was loved - and will be missed and remembered.
  8. My boys have been on Iams Low Residue food to deal with loose stools... But, I have to bribe them with something in it...i.e. cold cuts, pasta, shredded Mozarella cheese.....Sometimes their stools are still loose....but they are MUCH better. Hopefully it's just inflamation causing the blood.....Good luck!
  9. No advice....just thougths and prayers for strength....as others have said, just enjoy the time. We, too, like many who have posted have chosen four-legged children over two......and love them with every single piece of our hearts....Rest assured that there are those of us out here who truly understand that they are not "just dogs"....
  10. I'm so sorry for your loss.my heart breaks that you have to hear that scream in your head but yet to replace that thougt with the peace he must have felt when he had you by his side. He was blessed to have pund you.
  11. I forgot to mention in my last post...our old boy, EZ, had dental work done (17 teeth removed) two years ago (he was eight at the time) when he also had a small tumor removed on his leg. He was uncomfortable that night - but we moistened his food and he was able to get some down. By the next day he was rebounding!
  12. Prayers and more prayers....from me, my two new boys, and my husbands old boy EZ!!
  13. Saw a gorgeous blue when I was down in FLA last Friday adopting my two new boys......He was still running - and they said he was VERY good. No superstition there!!!
  14. I am so sorry for your loss.....and know that there are no words that make the pain in your heart go away - but know that we all have felt that pain and the emptiness that accompanies it. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
  15. I haven't crated my boys.....I agree that a room with baby gates is a good option....mine like to be able to see out windows....it seems to relax them.
  16. Again...I just want to continue to thank everyone. It has been such a comfort to have people to reach out to.
  17. A lot of studies have been done about "wrapping" a dog in a cape. My boy Jack who just passed used to wear one at night - it helped with a sleep disorder....but there has been some work done by Dr. Nicholas Dodman about capes and storms. They studied capes with an anti-static lining and regular ones - and what they found was the anti-static lining didn't matter as much as simply the presence of the cape.....An oversize coat - i.e. snug in the shoulders but big enough to come low on the sides or even a human t-shirt where the shoulders are snug so there are some pressure points. Just a theory....good luck.
