  1. Passion had an abscess which they found on xrays Hope they figure out what's going on.
  2. We went the entire weekend without power which meant no A/C. I put him in the car a lot to cool down. He thought that was awesome!! He seems more tired but it could be the heat. Power came back on Sunday but now my A/C doesn't work. I have A/C in the attic (small unit) so dragged his crate up there and all the pups will stay up there during the day.
  3. I'm about 2 weeks shy of him being with me for a year. I got him the first week of July last year. He was having seizures in the racing kennel, I'm sure. I started the Costco Keppra yesterday. I will be sure to check his poop tonight. I forgot this morning. Thanks everyone!!
  4. So far, he has not acted any differently on keppra. I start giving the costco pills tomorrow so will see if there is a change at all.
  5. Best of luck and I hope she gets the same result that my Lucky got -BENIGN.
  6. I picked up the keppra last night. It was $60 for a months worth. If you do use Costco, sign up for their discount drug program, it saved me a few bucks. I'm looking into acupunture as well.
  7. I'm leaning towards not using any flea or tick on Thunder. I use Adam's spray on my other pups but I wonder if just being around them could trigger a seizure.
  8. Both Passion and Thunder are seizure dogs so that was my main reason along with all the other obvious.
  9. I'm doing some research and just came across this: Sharing human food containing MSG or cured products like hot dogs and luncheon meats is also not recommended. http://www.whole-dog-journal.com/issues/7_5/features/Epileptic-Dogs_5634-1.html I think it's ok, just checking to see if anyone is using it or should I use something else?
  10. How old? Passion will be 11 in Oct. She had her dental on June 5th. I was a complete mess and actually sat in my car in the parking lot the entire time. She lost 11 teeth (lost 13 about 3 years ago as well). I've switched her to raw since she can't chew kibble anymore. The vet said it takes 3-4 weeks for the gums to heal so no kibble or hard treats. You will have to wet her food until it's mush for a while until her gums are healed (if she has any pulled). Passion was totally awake when I picked her up. She wasn't out of it or loopy like some hounds are after being under. Good luck!!
  11. Anyone using Frontline Plus with their seizure dog? I just ordered sentinel for Thunder after checking with my vet last night that it was ok to give him.
  12. Can't the pill be mashed up and mixed into kibble?
  13. Sorry, I had 2 questions but both threads are getting all mixed in
  14. I'm trying to find a large ice pack. The problem is, he has the seizures in my room which is in the attic. There's no way I can leave him to run to the kitchen to get the ice pack.
  15. I think it's around $60. I will know tomorrow when I pick it up. I guess there's a discount with a Costco membership.
  16. Every 12 hours. Costco has it not sure about Sam's.
  17. Can you ask to switch to the extended release keppra?
  18. I do use a neuro and just started using my primary vet for bloodwork every 6 months. Before that, I was using my adoption groups vet. Plus I can text, call, email my primary vet any time of the day and he gets back to me right away. The neuro isn't that easy to reach. The neuro won't give me rectal Valium (claims it won't work on him). I've asked my reg vet for some.
  19. What was the weather like when you were at the event? If it was warm, I wonder if that had something to do with causing the seizure. The thing that sucks (for me), I can't think of anything that is causing Thunder's seizures. Nothing had changed this past weekend except it got hot. I've read not to use air freashner- I have an airwick that shoots off every 9 mins. But I've had that the entire time I've had Thunder. They also say heartworm medication can cause a seizure 1-2 weeks after giving it which is the time frame for his this last weekend. But he hasn't had any the previous months after HW pill.
  20. Thursday in the middle of the night- he had 3 focals. He woke me up with them. Then he a grand mal and a focal shortly after (On Friday night)- that happened twice (the 2nd was Sat night). I think he had 3 grand mal over the weekend and the rest were focals.
  21. Thanks, I will check it out. I've had him on grain free for a few months. I am switching him to raw this week.
  22. We already tried to reduce the zoni and he had a grand mal. That's a side effect for zoni that I didn't know about when I started him on it. I take that back- the neuro did tell me before I started the zoni that I prob can't take him off it. I forgot about that.
  23. I can't take him off the other drugs because he will have more seizures so that's why he's on all 3. We tried in May and within a few days, he had a grand mal. It's $109 a month for the keppra.
