  1. I'm sure others will have some great advice but the name of your houndie caught my attention. Mine is Myka (see below) . Is yours pronounced Mike-uh too?
  2. I walked Myka up paw by paw, very slowly and talked to her in soothing voice the whole time. On the way down, I hand one hand in front of her chest so she wouldn't jump, and used my other hand to move her paws one by one. It took some time to get up and down but it worked and it only took a couple of days to do it on her own.
  3. Cottage cheese? I mixed that with Myka's kibble when I was trying to put a few pounds on her...
  4. Awww, how sweet, he's trying to hold your paw

I'm so very sorry for your loss
  6. Awww, how cute. My girl was fascinated by EVERYTHING in the house... Can you get a picture of him admiring himself??
  7. I was told when I adopted Myka to watch for the 3's -- 3 days, 3 weeks and 3 month marks because those seem to be when the bigger changes happen. She is definately not the same dog today that she was in September, she's more confident, silly, playful, funny and oddly enough slightly *less* snuggly (but it's good she's become more independent). Time, a few treats, and reminding her she was safe and loved did the trick
  8. Myka will give a quick lick on command -- if she feels like it.
  9. Awww, that's so cute I've had Myka 6 months and she's still changing. This may just be a phase...
  10. Poor Lola I leave the radio or tv on and made a point of leaving often but only for short periods of time. I haven't had my grey very long and she's doing well with this so hopefully others will have some more ideas that will help.
  11. I'm so very very sorry for your loss.
  12. Welcome! He's a very handsome boy! Myka is making goo goo eyes at him
  13. Yup, will have to go with the rugs, the more scared she is the more she does the scooby scramble. She was ok for months and months until just recently but I just can't stand that she's scared in her own home.
  14. Welcome from Wine Country! Such pretty greys you have!
  15. Yes, Myka is allowed but only on 1 couch ( I have 2 in the living room) and only in her spot at the foot of the couch--no where else.
  16. OMG SOOOO many people said to me "Greys are nervous and excitable and hard to train and need lots of excercise" and you read that WHERE? What article? research? oh you didn't do any, huh?
  17. Ugh, the waiting is the worst part isn't it? Glad she's doing ok with her stitches and will continue to hope all is well.
