  1. I'm having a similar problem with one of my greys, except he does it during the evening. I know he is not sick, because he will happily eat when he is having anxiety. He was also desperate to go back out and did not want to come in, which makes me think it is something in the house. Lots of people suggested that perhaps he can hear some high pitched frequency that we can't and that is what is freaking him out.

For a while, I tracked the episodes and took note of what was on in our house - furnace, dishwasher etc. The only consistent thing I came up with is that it may be our old TV. (Which makes my husband happy because he is dying for a new one!)

People also suggested that I try melatonin - which you do not need a prescription for. They also said not to coddle him when he is all worked up, so it sounds like you are doing some good things.

Good luck! I know it is very frustrating - especially in the middle of the night!

  2. My Jitters had a pretty severe heart murmur - she took Enalipril also. She never had a problem, and I had her for 4 and a half years.

I just kept an eye on her breathing.

She had trouble when it was really hot, and I kept Lasix on hand just in case. I never had to use it.
