  1. My pack (4) have morning feeding whenever the sun breaks. It's feeding frenzie at 3 afternoon, their idea ,not mine. Makes for a looooooooong night. Each get a treat and a kiss at bedtime. My bedtime is 11-12. I wake them up for the treat! I understand the farm/kennel only feed once in the morning?
  2. Ditto on the Wiggles Wags Whiskers harness. My spook would turn into a bucking bronco when a motorcycle or something out of the blue would run by. Crossing a busy parking lot at Petco was an issue before the harness. He would statue in a traffic lane , I could pick up on the harness feature and carry the front end like a suitcase. I won't walk him without it.It has held up well for 2 yrs and I like the velvet under strap on his naked belly.
  3. Picked up a 2yo boy last Sunday from the farm.Poodle, house greyhound and Dalmatian all upstirs with DH. New boy ate the foam container from a chicken package while I scooped leaves from the pool. THEN tonight I find the kitchen sponge gone. I am not used to baby-proofing the house. I'm on the puter in the kitchen and new boy is knocking the burner off the range. Grrrrrrr. This is foster #6 and all the rest were gems.
  4. You are making me nervious about picking up a 2yo intact (for now) male from a "farm". A new foster For sure the crate will be back in the house. I've always had returns or older greys that were "easy" I'm hoping the pack will show how to be a pet. A standard Poodle rules the house and won't put up with a brat.
  5. Probably nothing worse than my standard poodle eating a whole Archetectural Digest Mag. We found technicolor poop around the hood for a few days. Bananas, I would carry a stack of paper plates and it won't be a picnic!
  6. Well hopefully they are not open back stairs. My first foster had issues and the trick was to cut up a package of hot dogs.. put on a harness and place one treat per step. It took a few minutes but he got it.Mashmellow PEEPS at the top can't hurt! lol I hope your group didn't leave you high and dry
  7. please use a muzzle. If a dog is in pain,he may recoil and take it out on you. I never thought that could happen but I got it in the face.
  8. There is no cure for stupid. I warned my neighbor her cats frequent my yard. ( My lizards taste better). The cats tease and walk along the top of my 6ft wood fence. When the coast is clear they drop in the yard to investigate the free world. Neighbor says they can run really fast! Told her last time I went to Derby Lane NO cats came out of the boxes! Same day a neighbor said I was stupid to walk 3 dogs. I responded loudly that if he stayed on his side of the street,NOBODY would get hurt. I will defend my dogs and if he drops his retractable leash agsin (because his dog is friendly) I will go into overdrive. I've been walking 3 or more dogs before he learned to say doggie......KIDS!
  9. Stormy wears a muzzle on walks because he nips people if they get close to his pack . Never ate dog poop, but he smashed his muzzle in the dirt to get cat poop. Had to bleech it for awhile! Poodle also thinks our cat box is her personal vending machine ugh
  10. My grey was counter-surfing for ice cream. The ice cream was frozen solid and a chunk went flying off the spoon across the room. Grey watched in wonder while the poodle caught it in mid stream. I guess Butter Pecan is not a favorite. lol
  11. Welcome from St Petersburg, almost a neighbor. Home of Derby Lane. Looks like 7 in your litter. Potato chip dogs! lol Be careful what you wish for
  12. Looks like Daisy was trying to hot wire something! Let's go for a ride.
  13. When we took our first cat safe foster to a prospect,no go. Now this 3yo boy sleeps with my fat old persian. The catch was the young couple had a kitten and never saw a dog. Brought in the muzzled, leashed dog and up the curtains went their cat AND my dog! We called our coordinater and discussed plan #2 with another dog. I suggested a poodle!
  14. My long dog has bed failure (hangs off everything). I hit the jackpot on trash night. My neighbor tossed out a baby crib and with it was the crib mattress in new condition. It even has 2 layers of stretch to fit sheets. It has vinyl covering so drooling and accidents won't matter. Soooooooooooooooo, check thrift stores for crib mattress or new at Wally World or Kmart are around $60-70 and WILL be large enough!unless they need your queen bed,lol
  15. Not that I am an expert. My Stormy is now 7 and raced 171 races in 3 years. He came to me with the outside rear toe amp. He has no problems, except stepping on acorns on his walks. He has been walking/trotting for 3 years on a goofy foot. I would wonder if more weight would be put on the front legs/feet. I guess others in that bost will reply
  16. no problem. Stormy ate a whole pound frozen sitting in the sink. Makes for interesting pickups the following days. When he opens the fridge for cocktail sauce, I will worry. Almost as interesting as poodle eating colorful ballons after New Yrs Eve party Good Dad gone Bad.
  17. Just got to go there......Two rednecks rock'n on the porch. Old Yel sitting spread out licking his jewels. Man turns a chuckles,Wish I could do that. The other replies, Go ahead ,but he might bite. ); Just got to go there......Two rednecks rock'n on the porch. Old Yel sitting spread out licking his jewels. 18. Opposite problem here. Since Santa brought in the new Big Screen, sppooky boy won't come in the den. He did the same when the old fridge (white) was changed out for a bigger black fridge. I had to feed in the dining room for a week.A trail of sliced turkey up to the new fridge changed his mind
  19. Took the 2 greys on the pm walk. Left the Dane and Standard Poo in the house. When I returned not 3 min around the block in 39 degree Florida sunshine, 2 sticks of butter left out for oatmeal cookie GONE. I understand turkey skin ,gravies and fat holiday foods can be deadly for greyhounds with pancreatitis ?What can I expect knowing 100 pound dog probably ate it all?
  20. Got one also. Just have to use a king/queen quilt bedcover folded up.It helps the leather from scratches also. Got one also. Just have to use a king/queen quilt bedcover folded up.It helps the leather from scratches also.
  21. When my boy stopped eating for 2 days. Hot dogs sprinkled with parmesan cheese broke the ice.(Y'all can lower your eyebrows, now) And pizza never fails!!
  22. I had a spooky bounce come to stay for awhile. The white fridge broke down and as long as all the other appliances were black,I bought a black fridge. This boy would not come in the kitchen for 3 days.He would stand in the next room while all the others ate in the kitchen. He finally came around when he saw chicken feet being handed out from the black monster. All was good until the ice dropped in the plastic container. Back to dining room dining.
  23. I use www.petdrugs.com 64.98 6 pack purple box (45-88#) Frontline Plus free ship
  24. I feel the pain.. We have lost 4 hound in our group this month already. My fav foster was adopted in Aug and has been diagnose also. I'm afraid to open email anymore. Strongly thinking of insurance for my 7yo stripey boy.
  25. Only you have the correct answer. It's never easy even when they are young. Your vet should give you answers with their experience. You heart has already prepared you.Be kind on yourself and family.Enjoy the memories. Peace be with you
