  1. We don't use much milk here so it usually goes bad. The solution we've found is to buy lactose-free milk, either Lactaid or a store brand. The lactose free milk lasts in the refrigerator for 3-4 weeks, even when it's been opened. We get way more mileage out of a carton of milk now.
  2. I've been waiting for this news! Willa, you are awesome! Yes Doolin, you are awesome too.
  3. The nights are currently cold here in the desert. Mark and Gracie spent the night under their blankets and it was still cold in the house this morning after they had breakfast. An anonymous friend had Miss Houndtime Irene make a housecoat for Prtunia back when she first arrived. Petunia promptly poo-pooed that idea and wouldn't wear it. She would spend the entire time rubbing the walls trying to get the coat off. Subsequently, the coat has been worn on chilly days by Kate, LaVida, and now Gracie. Gracie tolerates the coat but like Petunia, wants it taken off after a short time. She did take a brief nap wearing it this morning, so I guess it's a gradual adjustment, or we need it to get even colder.
  4. I still have it. Will add this to the to do list. Thanks. For anyone following this thread: We started using the new oil that I linked above (Max and Neo Brand) and it seems to be very good. No stomach upset, solid poops and both pups are getting bunny soft again. I'm seeing more products appearing with this brand name. They are a local company here in Phoenix, so I think we wil be seeing more products on Amazon, Chewy etc from them.
  5. Mooney, all of the girls are going to know who you are now. Your social media is going to be busy.
  6. Pretty sure that many of us spent the day refreshing our browsers and saying "Why hasn't she posted yet?" Miss those kids.
  7. The GSOD - Greyhound Scream of Death. Could be cramps or the leg being asleep. Some of these dogs are real drama queens over little things, and some will stand there with a broken leg and not make a sound. I know that's not much help, but I think we've all been through at least one GSOD that seemed to happen for no reason over the years. It will scare the life out of you. If it continues, I would think about seeing an orthopedic vet specialist just to be safe. Also check the paw pads if this is happening as he stands up.
  8. I submitted an inquiry to their Customer Service last night when I didn't find any recall notices. Will report back when I receive a response. Of course, we poured the last of our most recent bag into the container recently and no longer have the bag with the date code.
  9. I've seen nothing about a recall and last purchased them a few months ago from Chewy. I'm thinking that I would have received notification from Chewy if the product we received could have been affected. Not finding anything online about a recall at all, but Chewy also seems to have stopped carrying the beets and the mixers as well.
  10. I am stunned to see this. I am so sorry that this sweet girl left so soon. Thank you for giving her the best days of her life. Run free, beautiful Leela.
  11. She is keeping her girlish figure without it. She usually gets some cottage cheese on her dinner so we count that as her "milk." Neither of us drink milk, so I only occasionally buy it when I'm craving cereal. She will get it once in a while as a treat, but not every day.
  12. Here's another article that came out on Friday. https://www.wired.com/story/mystery-dog-illness-bacteria-america/
  13. We had some rain the night before. Just enough to get his digging hole wet. I need to buy some bags of sand and fill his projekt back up. He's starting to uncover the water lines to the irrigation system.
  14. Apparently it is a well known fact that a pup cup is dangerous. She would have nothing to do with it. The girl who jumps in the air when I put cottage cheese on her food and who had special instructions from her previous owner that "she gets 6 ounces of 2% milk after a walk" wanted nothing to do with the whippy cream from Starbucks. Go figure. Mark said he will go next time.
  15. Why do you ask? (Sorry for the big image - it doesn't want to resize)
  16. AnnIE - Happy Birthday gorgeous girl! (Where are your other 2 slippers?) I can't wait to see what adventures you have today.
  17. Happy Bridge Borthday, buddy. It's hard to beleive that you would be 18 years old now. We miss you every day.
  18. I just ordered a small bottle of another brand that is supposed to be pure salmon oil. Will report back after we try it. https://www.amazon.com/Max-Neo-Caught-Alaskan-Salmon/dp/B076L64QK8/ref=sr_1_3?crid=14CRN9FF3OG4P&keywords=max%2Band%2Bneo%2Bsalmon%2Boil&qid=1700852160&sprefix=max%2Band%2Bneo%2Bsalmon%2Boil%2Caps%2C152&sr=8-3&th=1
  19. Thanks for that. I was trying to figure out the differences as the labels are all very similar. The product pictures on Amazon have moslty been updated to the Omega product, so even if it was previously a listing for the Salmon Oil, it is now showing the Omega product. It's the Omega Health that is causing the diarrhea. Our previous bottle was whichever of the previous products they have been shipping forever. I can only go by my order history but the bottle received isn't always identical to the product listing, I think we tried this Omega Health product a long time ago with similar results on a different hound.
  20. Is anyone else having an issue with Grizzly Salmon Oil and stomach upset / diarrhea? We have a new bottle and Gracie has now had diarrhea twice since receiving it. It appears from the label that they could have changed the mix of oils, or is this just a rebranding/new label? We've used this for years without issues, but this is the only thing that has changed and the timing coincides with the start of the diarrhea.
  21. That storm went through a couple of years after our last visit and we watched the developments at Boss Oyster in the press after that. We last stayed in one of the little boutiqe hotel / restaurants in Appalachicola that also did not bounce back after the storm and is now out of business. My Boss Oyster T-Shirt finally bit the dust about a year ago and could not be worn due to all of the screenprinting ink crumbling off of it. I hope the town eventually recovers and has the funding to do so.
  22. St. George Island and Appalachicola is one of our favorite areas. It's been over 10 years since we've gotten there but it's definitely on the list for a return visit. (Now I want Oysters) Beautiful pictures and a great break after all you guys (and hounds) have been through!
  23. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! In a break from tradition, I'm having Chicken Enchiladas, with beans and rice, all from my favorite Mexican place. The whole turkey thing was a little too much work this year. I don't know how Seamie does it every holiday.
