  1. Thanks Everyone! We will be calling the vet in the morning and taking whatever appointment we can get. He's FEELING fine. He was so ticked tonight when the "hoomans" had ice cream and he didn't. (He never gets much, but hasn't had any since all this started.) He normally has an iron stomach and his whole potty cycle could normally be timed with a watch. Currently he goes from pudding poops, to no poop, to jello poop, to no poop. He's scarfing down the ground beef, but has definitely lost a few pounds this week. We can't find a logical reason for any of this, so it seems to be a medical issue. We'll update after the vet visit. Thanks again for all of the responses. We really appreciate the help.
  2. What flavor? Lemon-Lime. Actually he never touched his water yesterday until after I added some Gatorade. Then he drank the whole bowl over a few hours between dinner and bedtime. Good thing he has an iron bladder!
  3. UPDATE: -Rocket got 2 smaller meals last night after being fasted. 1 of pure ground beef, and one mixture of ground beef and pasta. This morning (here comes the poop report) - the poops bounced when they hit the ground . We will continue the Flagyl as suggested, and give him about 4 smaller meals today. If that goes ok we will start slowly working his food back into the mix sometime tomorrow and see how it goes. Thank you to everyone who responded, and especially to Burpdog for the lightning fast response to my original post.
  4. Thanks! We gave him about half of his normal meal tonight as he was pretty insistent that we had forgotten to feed him (there is a very accurate clock in his stomach. ) We have since made up the boiled ground beef and will fast him tomorrow until late afternoon or dinner time as needed (this will be 22-24 hours since his last meal) and start the ground beef with 1 or 2 small meals romorrow night and increase it throughout the next day. He will eat anything I put in front of him and appetite is not a problem. We thought it might be easier to fast him tomprrow since we are both around and can keep an eye on him. He never bothers anything and has never helped himself to anything in the kitchen, but I want to be able to monitor his output and also prevent him from deciding to feed himself if he feels the need. He decided tonight that he likes Gatorade mixed in his water very much and where has this delicacy been all of his life?
  5. Thanks. I was reading this earlier but didn't realize that it went for 3 months. Glad you got it under control. There is brown rice in his current food but it has never been a problem. Hopefully this is just a bug of some kind and will be over with quickly. He is acting completely normal, and the clock in his stomach is working fine also . He was quick to let us know that we had not fed him tonight.
  6. Thanks! It's funny that you replied first because my first thought was to PM you and ask instead of posting this.
  7. Rocket has had very runny poop and extreme gas for several days. Vet says that the poop sample is negative and is putting him on Flagyl for 6 days along with the Boiled Ground Beef and Rice Diet after fasting him. He is completely normal other than this issue, and nothing has changed in his diet. After searching GT and Google, I find thousands of results regarding the Ground Beef and Rice for treating the Big D, but nothing that says what proportions to use, or how to feed it. (If Jeff or Trudy read this - is it possible to have this info somewhere on the site for quick reference? - Thanks) We need to know the following: 1. What proportions to mix the ground beef and rice when cooking - or how many cups of rice per pound of ground beef? 2. How much of the mixture to feed and whether to feed it all at once (like a normal feeding time) or feed smaller amounts every couple of hours? I realize that the frequency of feeding may vary depending on what the dog will eat, but in this case - his appetite is normal. Thanks in advance for all help.

  9. Congratulations! We just watched your video of Bully with the toys last night and . We are really happy that Bully found his "forebber" home. I kind of figured that he might have found his home from that posting - he looked like he belonged there. Bully - congratulations. Tell mom that you need a few more toys!
  10. Yup, waiting for da update on my bruddah's bruddah. Hope you are doing ok Merlin. Rocket in illinoize
  11. When Rocket seems to need fiber, we give him a Metamucil Wafer. We only give him 1 - he thinks it is a cookie and loves it. We do not have any of the special dietary considerations that you are dealing with though. Usually one wafer works great and gets ime back on track.
  12. Can't resist....must say it.......at least the poop will be bagged when it comes out.... Sorry - as you can see - I need help. Welcome to Greytalk.....
  13. Rocket in SC, Here are some cookies to help you finish healing. The power of cookies works wonders. Hope you feel better riteawayquik! Yur Pal, Rocket in Illinois PS -What a gorgeous pup. - Rocket's Dad
  14. I just picked up Rocket this afternoon after a week of boarding. He gets turned out 5-6 times a day with several other greys and has acres of fenced land to run on there. They told me that he went running with 2 of the other dogs every time they went outside. He came home exhausted. I fed him his dinner, and he went straight to bed afterward. He has a huge grin on his face, so I know that he is zonked and in a deep sleep. It will take him a few days to get back to his normal routine. If I didn't know that he was tired, I would describe his behavior almost exactly as you are describing.
  15. This is in our local paper today. Thought it would be of interest. Article

Awww I love hearing about one of Dodge's half of 7 thousand and something brother and sisters lol. My friend also has a Dodgem pup. They're taking over! lol. Here's a thread about the "Gable Dodge" and Dodgem offspring. Gable Dodge is their grandfather. There are lots of Dodgem by Design kids on Greytalk.

We are so sorry for your loss. Our Rocket is also a Dodgem by Design "big goofy boy". They are the greatest. and each one brings so much love and laughter with them. it's hard to describe until you've had a "Dodgem" hound.
  18. The pups are adorable! Hello and welcome from the cornfields of Illinois. (edited because my fat fingers hit too many keys)
  19. Welcome to GT! Those Dodgem by Design Boys are the greatest - we have one. Rocket says hello to Draco - another long lost half brother. There are lots of Dodgem by Design offspring here on GT and up for adoption around the country. He was a very busy boy.
  20. Our Rocket had a bout of really bad Big D recently. We gave him some Kaopectate and it cleared up rather rapidly. We gave it once at night using the dosage for an adult from the bottle, and the next morning he was much better. It only took one dose to get him back on track. Hope this helps.
  21. Rocket seems better but is still not quite himself. He seems more tired than usual, but has also been going on at least 2 walks a day since the weather got better. Maybe we're just not seeing that pent up energy that he had when he was stuck in the house due to snow and ice. We have a vet appointment to update his shots this evening, so we'll have him checked out and take along a couple of "samples". Hopefully it's nothing, but will let you know what we find out.
  22. SUCCESS!!! He finally went a little while ago. He was whining in his crate again and was taken outside and had a succesful poop. When he came back in, we found that he had actually started to go in his crate which explains all the fuss when it actually came time to go. He seems upset about going in the crate. His crate pad and blankets are in the washer, so our new boy Rocket is snuggled on a dog bed under lots of blankets and is sound asleep. I think he feels much better now. Thanks for everyone's help. We love Greytalk and have actually been reading for months prior to his arrival. Happy Holidays to all.
