  1. Since he was sniffing the air, could the grass have been sprayed or fertilized when you weren't around? If a liquid fertilizer was used you may not see any trace of it, but the Greyhound nose may be overly sensitive to it. Just a thought since it's time for that in many places.
  2. Rocket is boarded at the Greyhound Resort in Indy whenever we go out of town. When he comes home, he sleeps for 2-3 days except for meals and going outside. An I mean "sleeps." He gets a lot more exercise there than here, and has a blast while there. He loves going there and even tries to get out of the car ahead of us when we pull in the drveway of the resort.
  3. We have not seen much of the Brady kids lately. We need . Are they staying out of trouble or is this class court-ordered?
  4. Someone previously posted directions showing how they made some lightweight steps that let their dog walk into the van or car. The stepss were made out of styrofoam blocks. It's been so long that I don't remember who posted it, and can't find the post through searching. Someone will be along with those directions. Not sure if they will work for your vehicle but if they will then it's an easy solution. Edited to add: to GT.

  7. See you on Thursday, Dude, when you wake up.... Sweet Dreams, Buddy.
  8. We are very sorry for your loss.
  9. We just went through this with Rocket. We had several weeks of bland meals, 2 different meds, and lots of soft and liquid poo along the way. All of the stool, blood, and urine tests came back negative, so we changed him from a lamb and rice based food to a grain-free food - Taste of the Wild High Prairie. In just a few days, he had normal poops again, and was putting a little weight back on. I noticed today that his coat is getting softer, so I think the food is working well for him. The thing that was so frustrating about this is that shortly after we started the bland diet, he was back to his old self except for the liquid poop. So here's a dog that you know has something wrong, acting normal with all of the test results coming back normal. The only thing we could do is stop all treats for a bit in case they caused the stomach upset, and work our way into a new food. BINGO! We also had lots of help from the folks here on GT! We used boiled ground beef instead of chicken as his bland food, but other than that we pretty much went through the same thing. Hope your pup is better soon. It sounds like you are doing everything you can until you work into a new food.
  10. Gabby, I cannot wait to see your rooing video. Make sure you ask your mom about peanut butter. You will love it. Rocket's Dad

  12. Thanks Everyone! We will be calling the vet in the morning and taking whatever appointment we can get. He's FEELING fine. He was so ticked tonight when the "hoomans" had ice cream and he didn't. (He never gets much, but hasn't had any since all this started.) He normally has an iron stomach and his whole potty cycle could normally be timed with a watch. Currently he goes from pudding poops, to no poop, to jello poop, to no poop. He's scarfing down the ground beef, but has definitely lost a few pounds this week. We can't find a logical reason for any of this, so it seems to be a medical issue. We'll update after the vet visit. Thanks again for all of the responses. We really appreciate the help.
  13. What flavor? Lemon-Lime. Actually he never touched his water yesterday until after I added some Gatorade. Then he drank the whole bowl over a few hours between dinner and bedtime. Good thing he has an iron bladder!
  14. UPDATE: -Rocket got 2 smaller meals last night after being fasted. 1 of pure ground beef, and one mixture of ground beef and pasta. This morning (here comes the poop report) - the poops bounced when they hit the ground . We will continue the Flagyl as suggested, and give him about 4 smaller meals today. If that goes ok we will start slowly working his food back into the mix sometime tomorrow and see how it goes. Thank you to everyone who responded, and especially to Burpdog for the lightning fast response to my original post.
  15. Thanks! We gave him about half of his normal meal tonight as he was pretty insistent that we had forgotten to feed him (there is a very accurate clock in his stomach. ) We have since made up the boiled ground beef and will fast him tomorrow until late afternoon or dinner time as needed (this will be 22-24 hours since his last meal) and start the ground beef with 1 or 2 small meals romorrow night and increase it throughout the next day. He will eat anything I put in front of him and appetite is not a problem. We thought it might be easier to fast him tomprrow since we are both around and can keep an eye on him. He never bothers anything and has never helped himself to anything in the kitchen, but I want to be able to monitor his output and also prevent him from deciding to feed himself if he feels the need. He decided tonight that he likes Gatorade mixed in his water very much and where has this delicacy been all of his life?
  16. Thanks. I was reading this earlier but didn't realize that it went for 3 months. Glad you got it under control. There is brown rice in his current food but it has never been a problem. Hopefully this is just a bug of some kind and will be over with quickly. He is acting completely normal, and the clock in his stomach is working fine also . He was quick to let us know that we had not fed him tonight.
  17. Thanks! It's funny that you replied first because my first thought was to PM you and ask instead of posting this.
  18. Rocket has had very runny poop and extreme gas for several days. Vet says that the poop sample is negative and is putting him on Flagyl for 6 days along with the Boiled Ground Beef and Rice Diet after fasting him. He is completely normal other than this issue, and nothing has changed in his diet. After searching GT and Google, I find thousands of results regarding the Ground Beef and Rice for treating the Big D, but nothing that says what proportions to use, or how to feed it. (If Jeff or Trudy read this - is it possible to have this info somewhere on the site for quick reference? - Thanks) We need to know the following: 1. What proportions to mix the ground beef and rice when cooking - or how many cups of rice per pound of ground beef? 2. How much of the mixture to feed and whether to feed it all at once (like a normal feeding time) or feed smaller amounts every couple of hours? I realize that the frequency of feeding may vary depending on what the dog will eat, but in this case - his appetite is normal. Thanks in advance for all help.
  19. Hangin' with the Rocketman

  20. Congratulations! We just watched your video of Bully with the toys last night and . We are really happy that Bully found his "forebber" home. I kind of figured that he might have found his home from that posting - he looked like he belonged there. Bully - congratulations. Tell mom that you need a few more toys!
  21. Yup, waiting for da update on my bruddah's bruddah. Hope you are doing ok Merlin. Rocket in illinoize
  22. When Rocket seems to need fiber, we give him a Metamucil Wafer. We only give him 1 - he thinks it is a cookie and loves it. We do not have any of the special dietary considerations that you are dealing with though. Usually one wafer works great and gets ime back on track.
  23. Can't resist....must say it.......at least the poop will be bagged when it comes out.... Sorry - as you can see - I need help. Welcome to Greytalk.....
