  1. I'm so sorry, what a sad situation. I have not had anything similar happen, so I have no insight. Godspeed Jonelle, you'll be missed.

    Goodbye Morgan

    I'm so sorry. Godspeed Morgan.
  3. My heart is broken for you. Godspeed sweet Katie, you'll be missed.
  4. Tricia, Mandy went to the bridge a year ago Wednesday. I spent quite some time that day looking at pictures and came across the sweet one you took of Bee Wiseman and Mandy at GIG a few years back. It brought tears to my eyes. I can't believe our sweet girls left us. Happy Birthday Bee Wiseman, you are missed.
  5. The vet who saw Mandy for her corns was regarded by many as the local expert on corns. She told me that any moisturizer would do, but plain vaseline usually works as well as expensive creams. I did use human Kerasal for a while, which I use on my feet, but it didn't seem to do any better. What helped the most with any cream/gel/moisturizer was to put the product on, wrap the foot with saran wrap for a little while to let it soak in, and then rinse it off. In theory, an exfoliant such as Callex would help to make the corn erupt so it could be pulled out easier. If you want to try Callex, you might want to try the technique of wrapping with saran wrap for a while after putting it on, and then rinsing. That would reduce the chance that Tracker will lick the cream off. I don't think any of the ingredients you list are a major problem. I know that I've been told peppermint oil can be given to calm a dog, so that shouldn't hurt. I haven't heard of Jack's Gel, but since Mandy passed away, I haven't had to deal with corns and haven't tried any of the new products.
  6. I hope you can get the boys' blood pressure under control. It is truly scary what can happen without us knowing.
  7. My angel Mandy suffered from corns on all four paws. it was not fun. I would not have considered surgery. I did have them hulled frequently. You can find good information about corns here: Grassmere. The things that worked best for Mandy (remember that every dog is different): Keeping her nails SUPER short Keeping her paw pads well moisturized (use plain vaseline and cover with toddler socks a couple of times a day -- be sure the socks won't be eaten) Having the corns hulled Using Therapaws religiously when outside Tramadol in a low dose (she tolerated it well) If it were me, I wouldn't want the surgery. I've heard too many people say the corns came back almost immediately. I tried some of the other treatments (Abreva, bee propolis, etc), but none seemed to do any better than plain vaseline applied daily. You said he did badly with Fentanyl. Tramadol is different. I'd go with your vet's suggestion. Tramadol can be used with Rimadyl. Best of luck with Tracker. There is also a Yahoo Group "Corn Hounds" (I am not on Facebook).
  8. I second the earlier suggestion for a different medication. Clomicalm didn't help Mandy, but Amitriptyline did. Our vet called in the prescription to Costco, which was the cheapest place I could find. If Amitriptyline didn't work, we would have tried Prozac. She never was great about my leaving, but we got to a place where she was okay...just okay...and I decided that would have to do for us.
  9. Mandy had a problem with alkaline urine when I adopted her. With my vet's permission, I started giving her a cranberry pill every day. Before the cranberry pills, she had several accidents and multiple UTIs. After being on the cranberry pills for a month, we tested her urine again and it was right in the middle of the pH scale. She had one more UTI and 2 or 3 accidents in the subsequent 7 years. My vet had originally said that the cranberry wouldn't hurt and might help. It was such a good thing for us. I just purchased the Spring Valley brand at Walmart -- ~$6 for 60 capsules.
  10. I'm glad you are past the worst of the recovery, but you are right to consider tools that may help in the future. Schon will work with you to get the right product for Python. She has other products that are not on the website and can do custom work. She will also refer you if she doesn't have or can't make what you need. An Irish Wolfhound who used to live in my neighborhood was one of her models -- he had huge swollen elbows and her product helped relieve the pressure and pain.
  11. I've used the company for years. The owner, Schon Gross, is great. I've not used their flagship product, but Schon helped me with other products to help Mandy. PM me if you'd like more info.

  14. I'm so sorry, I can't imagine how much it hurts to not know.
  15. I'm so sorry. Godspeed Remy, you'll be missed.
  16. Thanks for all the kind words and good thoughts. Sammy is back to about 90% of normal. I'm assuming he was able to grab something on one of our night time walks -- I watch him like a hawk, but sometimes it's so dark out. Anyhow, it looks like my boy is on his way back!!
  17. Thanks for the kind thoughts. All his labs came back with no abnormalities. If he is still "off" on Monday, we're going to try an x-ray and ultrasound, plus a urinalysis, even though he has no signs of a UTI.
  18. I'm so sorry he had to leave. What a loving tribute to your boy. Godspeed Orion.
  19. I'm so sorry he had to leave after such a short time with you. Godspeed Murphy.
  20. I'm so sorry. Godspeed Cosmo.
