Dehydrated Veggies From Frozen?
boopieface replied to GreyWrangler's topic in Food and dietary discussion
Sorry Nancy, I think the frozen veggies would mold or get mushy if you tried to dehydrate them. You can get dehydrated veggies and re-hydrate them when you need them. Halise -
I would take her to get her eyesight checked. Maybe she isn't clumsy but just doesn't see well.

Hates Potassium Bromide Liquid... Help?
boopieface replied to a topic in Health and Medical discussion
My vet had a compounding pharmacy make up capsules with the powder because we did a lot of travelling with the dog and the KBR is supposed to be refrigerated if it is a liquid and that was tough to travel with. Apparently it is a powder first, then it gets "made" into a liquid for most patients. Ask if they can do this for your boy. Good luck! -

Sure sounds like fleas. Frontline is safe for greys. Also, Capstar, the Capstar is a small pill that kills the fleas in about an hour! It doesn't prevent them from coming back, but the Frontline will. We just "aquired" some fleas from a friend's dog. UGH! We first used the Frontline, and then a friend said to use the Capstar. The vet agreed, He had us give them one pill and then we are to use the Frontline every three weeks until all signs of fleas are gone. Capstar only kills the adult fleas. Use both. Good luck!!

Ollie's Nose Looks Red And Slightly Scabbed
boopieface replied to IAMs's topic in Health and Medical discussion
Dofsweetpotatoes had a dog with lupus and his nose would get dry and scaly. Maybe she'll chime in here. She used to carry around a Chapstick to keep Yardman's nose from cracking. -

YES YES YES!! I had a little brindle girlie that usually slept in my friend's room. One night, she was going to be gone so I slept in her room with the dogs. Usually when my sugar level drops too low at night, it wakes me up because I start shaking. About 3 in the morning, she started crying and pawing at me until I sat up. I felt dizzy and started to shake so I check my blood sugar. It was 35!! Way too low. I leep glucose next to the bed so I started chewing on them. As soon as she saw that I was awake and doing something, she went back to sleep. I didn't sleep in the same room as her after that and she passed away a few months later. I often wonder if she could have been trained as a diabetic alert dog.

Have you tried doggie crack (Burpdog crumbs) I'm sure you could find some somewhere LOL. Hugs to you both.

Tincture That Contains Cooked Brandy
boopieface replied to paulg's topic in Food and dietary discussion
Isn't brandy made from grapes?? I'd be more worried about that than the alcohol. But it would probably be ok in small amounts. -
We are sooooo sorry Steve. Hugs to you and your family Halise & Martha and Atomic and Berry

My two greyhounds have to sit before they get their food otherwise they would just bowl us over! . My boy will sit until we release him. If he breaks the sit stay, we pick up his food until he sits again. Then he has to wait until we release him. He probably sits for about two minutes sometimes. He is not uncomfortable. I think it may be that if they are in prime racing condition with nice tight toned muscles it may be a bit uncomfortable, but after they've been pets for a while they loosen up a bit. I had one grey that would sit in front of the window in the living room for ages watching the traffic go by. I think you just have to reward them with a high value treat to get them to sit/stay. Start with a short time, and gradually increase it.

I tried to get it from my vet because my little girlie gets really frantic at the vet's. She has four laser treatments coming up and I wanted to try it to see how she did. Well, he said he preferred to have her take valium. Sigh...............so we will be trying that on Thursday for her next visit.

Our Angel Katy Sue had IBD with protein losing enteropathy. She was on Hills AD canned (EXPENSIVE - but she was worth every penny), and Hills WD dry with lots of added protein stuff - canned mackeral (NOT in oil ), whey protein powder (she liked the strawberry) and any other protein we could find. She lived a long while eating this diet.

At most of the kennels, they turn the dogs out right after they eat. Maybe a real short walk closer to breakfast? Then the longer one a little later? Good luck! He's a handsome boy

Sudden Diarrhea, Questions Rop
boopieface replied to adudle00's topic in Health and Medical discussion
Boil ground chicken and then rinse it thoroughly to get all of the fat/grease out. Then mix with cooked rice or overcooked pasta. That's after at least a 24 hr fast - just water. Our vet prefers 36 hour fast. Give him water.
