  1. I am so very sorry. I was really hoping that things were turning around for Larry.
  2. Your darling Jilly has danced into the hearts of many and those hearts are breaking with yours. May her journey be peaceful and filled with love.
  3. I am so very sorry to see how this turned out. You, Larry, Ollie and your family will be in my thoughts. I am so thankful though that Larry got to spend his last days with you. What a gift you have given each other. Cindy
  4. I have no words to bring you peace or comfort during this ordeal. However, I am in awe in what you have been able to do and accomplish for your Girly Girl. You have become her champion and fought the nasty and bitter fight with her, for her. May we all be so lucky to have someone go to the mat for us as you have done for her. While I have not yet encountered this with my pups, I know I, too, will face what you have at some point. My heart goes out to you and I have been and will continue to keep you and Girly Girl tucked close in my heart, which is breaking for you.
  5. I just adjust the harness to fit over their coats. I haven't had any problems with the harness working correctly that way.
  6. I am sorry for the loss of Honey. The greatest gift always leaves us with the greatest pain.
  7. I am sorry for your loss. What a cutie!
  8. I am sorry for your loss. In time, may your memories bring you peace and comfort.
  9. I raw feed 5 dogs - 4 greyhounds and a whippet. I didn't add info on all of them, but on the one female and one male. My males actually eat between 24 - 28 ounces per day per dog. They are all on the smaller size: 64-68 pounds. My female is 56 pounds. They have a RMB meal in the morning after a good walk and before I leave for work and another meal after their evening walk when I get home. They are going to be fed as soon as I get finished with this post, actually. Their evening meal varies - tripe, muscle meat (beef, chicken, turkey, venison, duck), RMB, fish, organ meat. I don't do any veggies at all - except dehydrated as a treat. I started raw feeding because my first dog has IBS and simply cannot eat kibble. My vet gave me a choice - lose him or feed a prescription diet or raw. Didn't seem to be much of a choice! Now, 4 years later, he is doing great. The others are raw fed, too, because there was no way that any of them would eat kibble over raw! And, yes, the dogs eat better than I do. But, they are all happy, healthy, at a good weight and have pretty good teeth.
  10. Welcome from Montgomery County! There are several good groups near you! Oh, and we LOVE pictures!
  11. I am sorry for the loss of your sweet Gabe. He sounds like quite the character!
  12. I don't have any personal experience with Clomicalm. My whippet was placed on it before he ended up at our house, but it didn't work for him. When we eventually resorted to better living through chemistry with him, we went the Reconcile/Prozac route, which did work. Just throwing it out there, just in case! The medication route definitely worked for us. He is now off it entirely and doing as well as we could have hoped. I am glad that we went that way and then worked with him. Made a world of difference. Good luck! Cindy
  13. The words seem so inadequate, but I am so very sorry.
  14. I am so very sorry. Keeping everyone in my thoughts and prayers today.
  15. I am so very sorry. Everyone will be in my thoughts and prayers today.
  16. I cannot give any real advice, but can commiserate, if that helps! This summer, we experienced something similar with our 9 year female. She lives for walks and all of a sudden, she was refusing to go. She is half Arrow's size, so I could physically manipulate her if necessary. Anyway, from what I have observed, she was bitten by a horse fly, which are common in our area. If you have never had the experience, you are lucky. Those suckers hurt! She has been slowly doing better, then last night, a regular old fly went by and Zoe freaked out. While unfortunate, it at least confirmed my suspicions. I have just been slowly working with her and giving her time. Hopefully, someone with more experience can provide helpful advice. I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone!
  17. I have been following this thread and rooting, hoping and sending gentle thoughts to each of you as you travel this path with your beloved greys. Bing's Mom, those recent photos of Bing are beautiful and would be how I will remember and think of your handsome boy. I am so very sorry that it was time for him to go. There is nothing more difficult or selfless than to take one's pain and make it your own. I also hope that Cami settles down and lets you know what she needs. Gentle hugs to you and your family as you adjust to your new normal. Run with the wind, Bing, and let your Mom know that you are fine now.
  18. Thinking of you today. It is so difficult when our babies are ill, regardless of age. My son had cancer, too, when he was 12, but, thankfully, he is a survivor and now 19. I remember that time way to vividly. Please consider yourself hugged. Cancer stinks.
  19. What a kissable face! I am so sorry for your loss.
  20. How I wish that I had been able to meet your boy! What a beautiful tribute. I am so very sorry.
  21. What a moving story. I am so very sorry for your loss. He sounds like such a wonderful boy.
  22. I know this topic has been referenced in other threads. But, do drinking water additives actually help? I have been using the Biotene additive. They don't seem to mind/notice any taste differences, but I can't tell if it helps or not. I have one dog with bad teeth, so I am doing several things to help him out. Frankly, I don't want to spend the money if it doesn't really help. Also, if you are using an additive, please let me know which one and if it is helpful or not. Thanks!
  23. Good job and way to go, Hoover! (I had a cat named that once - yes, after the vacuum. The 5 second rule never even got a chance to be used around here! I miss that boy.) Goose wasn't quite that shy, but was afraid of everything, including his own shadow. A ball bouncing 6 houses away was enough to send him pulling for home. Now, he will eagerly push up towards people, but still doesn't want to be petted by men, but will accept a few from some women. Almost two years later, we are still evolving. I love my shy boy! It is so very rewarding to see them morph into the dog they have hidden inside! Each step is such a cause for celebration!
  24. What a wonderful celebration of Bear's wonderful life with you. I am so very sorry for your loss.
