  1. Please sir, may I have another! Such a cutie.
  2. He’s so adorable!! My smartest dogs have all been Greyhounds. The retrievers don’t hold an intellectual candle to the Greys. As you say though, they don’t learn commands to please me. They do it when it pleases them.
  3. Jeter has mastered my favorite motto, practice persistence. Good job, Jeter. Also, I’d have had to remove my hearing aid so I’d be hearing it in just one ear.
  4. Su applauds Buddy’s quickness. Always better to grab more & ask forgiveness later. However, it points out two basic unfairnesses. First, Bubby really should have gotten both the cone & the hose apple. Second, Su is no longer allowed in the pasture, meaning she can see those horse apples on the other side of the fence but never gets a chance to taste test.
  5. Congrats on the new girl, but you need to work harder to make her comfortable. I think I see a tiny bit of tension at one point on one toe.
  6. My girl thinks food is just a daily chore & toys are for someone else.
  7. He’s very photogenic, just clearly unimpressed but it all. Happy birthday, handsome guy!!!
  8. Such a lovely girl with her as(s)ymmetric Spring hairdo.
  9. Wish I had something to offer but I don’t. Good hear she is somewhat improved. Hope the improvement continues.
  10. Morning glory is a lovely comparison, but I also love Jerilyn's frilled lizard comparison. [says the owner of 4 reptiles] And it certainly would aid in hearing her master's voice, but will she acknowledge that she heard? hmmm... Here's to Sweep continuing to feel good enough to keep you on your toes.
  11. For some reason I was reminded of this post when looking at my girl. Not only can they completely deflate themselves, but they can do it with a twist, essentially lying on both sides at a time.
  12. MickeysMom, Rex is a dog & GME is a disease. Granulomatous meningoencephalitis (sp?) is an autoimmune disease. Many things effecting the spinal cord can present with some similar symptoms. I don’t envy vets their responsibility to accurately diagnose these things. It can be very hard.
  13. Maybe two layers of thick toddler socks would help. I did that for one of my dogs. A couple layers of thick tape on the bottom helped with wear and tear, but sock longevity was still an issue. It worked for us simply because he didn't have to walk on hard surfaces very often. ETA: Should have said he didn't have to walk on rough surfaces very often. Pavement and concrete does shred socks.
  14. Sending good wishes for your pup. It's a scary thing to deal with. Have not had a dog with a stroke yet, but have had a couple with spinal issues and another with a polyneuropathy. All had, at one point or another, incidents similar to your description but it wasn't sudden onset, merely an increase/escalation of already existing symptoms. The suddenness you describe would scare the bejeepers out of me. Have known a couple folks whose dogs did come back from a stroke. The dogs were never 100% after that but were happy, able to get around on their own and one went on regular walks again. It was life changing to be sure but not the end of happy lives.
  15. Found it interesting that in addition to other meds, our vet prescribed CBD oil. It’s in a dropper bottle. It’s hard to administer to a dog who hates it & didn’t seem to do diddly-squat. Not inclined to try any other CBD products at this point but I reserve the right to change my mind. 😁
  16. Whoa!! Now *those* are thighs. And you can just sit in the floor.
  17. Excellent news from the biopsy! And she is moving so well!!
  18. It's lovely outside today so I thought I'd open the window in my office to enjoy the breeze. Turns out it is actually a little windy outside, but still nice. Unfortunately, someone seems to be having her own problems with wind and her bed is between the window and me. It's a hard call. Which is worse, being downwind of her or stuck in here with the window closed, the air still and that cloud of phewy hovering over everything? Tough call. Here's a picture of the li'l stinker showing off her impossibly long legs.
  19. Is that the assistance harness from GodsGreyts? If so, she sells on Etsy.
  20. Sweep, you are a wonder. Keep up the good work! Was wondering about that. My first thought was, “How can it heal well that way?” Then I remembered that I’ve had at least 5 breaks, all odd ones in uncastable locations, that all healed well without cast or splint. Yes, there was some care taken & lots of “keep her quiet” (like that could ever happen) but all was well in the end.
  21. That is fantastic news!! Hope that trend continues.
