  1. Our grey went to the er tonight. we think she cut part of her paw with one of our outside metal lights. It was buried under 2 feet of snow. Anyway, they stitched her and we have to keep the bandage free from wetness. I tried ziploc bags with rubber bands and plastic bags. nothing seems to stay on good. Please any suggestions would be appreciated.14 days of this is going to be tough. ty
  2. I too also second guessed. We had our dog 18 years. I look back now and know I wasn't thinking straight at all the first few days after his passing. That is normal. You will have so many emotions and some days you will not cry and then weeks later out of nowhere you may cry again. Just remind yourself that it is all part of the grieving process. It was Otis's time. I know right now that is hard to believe but after a bit of time your inner self will realize you did all you could and it was just his time to go. so sorry for your loss. My heart truly goes out to you.
  3. I am not a vet either but one of my dogs had a seizure from too much tramadol. (not a grey). ask your vet if you can give valium along with the other meds. That will help him relax and sleep.
  4. Best thing is to take him to obedience class. we have owned lots of dogs before, this is also our first grey. It was amazing how much we learned. our dog knows so many commands and fun things. it was worth it.
  5. our grey was playing with another dog and slid (snowy here) down a few steps and landed funny on her back foot. She yelped, had trouble putting weight down right away but then was able to walk home. she isnt limping. Is there signs I should look for or what can I do to help ease her pain if she is sore? I didn't want to run to the vet if she isnt limping. This is new to me. Thanks
  6. lol i made a note to myself too not to have soup at her house rolfmao

I had to do it with my 8 pound dacshund in the middle of 8 inches of snow...lol anyway use the top of a tupperware lid or those tops ya get from soup from chinese places. use the underside. wait till she starts going then place under. just hang out near her. gl...lol
  8. wow ss about one of your dogs dying from it. my dachsund of 18 years took it for like 5 years . it really helped her pain. i guess each dog different. I am sure there are lots of other meds out there to use. hopefully he will be better soon gl

  10. Hi, I am sure this was probably brought up before but I did a search and couldn't find too much. I noticed my dog's front pad got ripped off, like half of it. I put neosporin on it since it was bleeding a lil. I also have that emj jell. Which works better? Is there anything else I should be doing to help it heal? How long does it usually take to heal? Thanks
  11. our dog eats a 8 am then dinner is 3pm a small bone at 7pm that way when we go out on weekends i dont have to run home during our normal supper time rofl works out well
  12. Hi, we just noticed the last ccouple times after our grey runs around the yard ( half grass half wood chips) been a lil snowy) parts of the webbing betwwen the pads of her feet are bleeding. sometimes it is just one foot other times several of her feet. She has been running in our yard for 4 months and this has never happened. I try the emj to heal the webbing ( i dont know if it is called webbing or what ya call it between their paws) the thin skin. Anyway should i put something else on it to help and what do you think is causing it? Anyone else ever deal with this?
  13. Not with our grey, but we had another dog that would throw up bile. the vet suggested giving her a piece of bread at night. it worked. she stopped throwing up the bile. the bread coats the stomach i guess. When I couldnt get her to eat anything, the only thing she liked was a roasted chicken. Hope she gets better soon. Oh nO so sorry just saw the other posts. My heart goes out to you.
  14. Ayone know where I can buy this emt gel? I live in Ohio
  15. Hi, We travel a lot so I was curious if they made a specific greyhound first aid kit? If not, what types of things should I include if I make my own? Thanks
  16. i got to pee right now real bad after reading that...lol..prayers for your dog
  17. Hi, Our grey had a small dime size bald spot on her back that appeared overnight. it grew to quarter size. We took her to a vet dermatologist. She said it was a reaction from one of her vaccines. Meanwhile it is half dollar size now. The vet said it could spread to the size of two human hands. Poor dog. I was wondering if anyone else out there had a similiar experience with reactions to vaccines, if so if the dog got a bald spot how big did it get?
  18. wow, i never knew they could get burned. i never had a dog who wanted to stay outside so much...lol.. took forever to get her to stay out when we got her 2 months ago, now i can't get her back in...lol. the icon face wasnt cause i was mad, i used it cause it was red like sunburn...lol
  19. hI, i NOTICED TODAY ON OUR GREYS ONE SIDE OF HER BALD BUTT SHE IS RED LIKE SUNBURN. SHE WAS OUTSIDE ALL DAY TODAY AND IT IS VERY SUNNY. IS THAT POSSIBLE? THIS IS THE SAME DOG THAT HAD THE SCRATCH BUT IT IS ALL HEALED. TY
  20. Hi, I put neosporin on it again last night. This morning it just looks like a scratch. The rash part seems better. ty for all your help. It i so nice to have this site to go to. Lexie says she feels less self consious today about her rear...lol
  21. I am glad my gorgous girl can be seen by everyone...lol.. she is though quite embarassed that her rear end is being shown being so red and raw. I washed it off with a hose of cold water and put neosporin on it. The vet called back and said that was good to do and to call him in a few days if something changes. I hope it is just a scratch and not some kind of allergic reaction. I am parnoid about poison ivy. I got it last year and suffered for months.
