  2. Happy weekend al the everybodies!

    Tis me Tiller.

    Me hab grievance to share.

Yesterday was a horrible day. It started off at 4 ob da am with a huge bang.  Don't know what it was but it was loud. Ma let me out to do business since we was up. But da first dogmanity then occurred. Herbs would not gibs me foods. Eye showed herbs. Eye done eberything Eye could to keep herbs from going back to bed. Den when she finally put my breakie in da bowl she told me to hurry up and get back outside. Harrumph!

When Eye came back in, she put me lector mask on my snoot. Uh oh, dat not good.  My friend Coach showed up and stole 2 big bags ob wonderful smelling houndie kibble and Ma left with Coach. Dey was gone foreber. My angel ob guardian houndies showed herself to me as eye was fading. She usually stays only a short while but this time she stayed and stayed. She patted me, played stuffie with me and shared treats with me. Thank goodness for herbs.

Ma showed up way after my supper time with Coach, and another guy that smelled like houndies and der was much commotion as my houndiemobile was evicted and coach put his ride in my garage.

Only den did Ma let me out to do my business but Eye was so suspicious and kept going through that flapper thing to see what was happening. Of all da nerve. Ma locked the flapper so Eye could not come back in. Eye was getting mad.

Finally da free ob dem came and let me in but Eye had to wear da lector and was tied up to Ma. We all went to da garage where me smelled my ramp and a strange houndie. Me sniffed him and learned him was terrified. Eye did my best to encourage him to get out da car and come in. He finally done it but was all scared and shaky.

We went out to my yard where eye showed him da best spots and hims peed a yeller riber. He gab da humans da slip as coming back inside and runned right into my berry own bedroom and planted hims buttocks in my bed! Ma took me out ob my bedroom and put up dat temp wall thing so Eye could not supervise da newcomer. Den Coach and da stranger left but Ma did not put my ride back into da garage. What da heck is going on?

So Eye banged my bowl. Did Ma gibes me foods? NO!

Herbs said Eye had to still wait. It was now 2 hours din din was late.

Eventually stranger came back, putting hims car in my garage. At least hims showed me respect and give me ear nuggies. Den him went into me bedroom and sat down on da floor foreber until that lump ob houndie finally lifted hims head off my bed, and eben later stood up. Ma and stranger put da harness on da houndie and with me beside him we walked to da garage. Da houndie, with da houndie crack treats encouragement, instead ob going up da ramp jumped into da car and instantly glued hisownself to da floor. Dey drove off. Ma shoved me into da house, rudely. Me heard herbs take her sweet time putting my ride back into da garage.

Then and ony then did herbs feeds me. 8 ob da pm. Free hours my din din was late.

Eye been sulking eber since cause Ma been on dat talky box.

Me gonna gibs herbs a hard time today for da dogmanity she put me through. Am Eye right my friendlies?

OK Tiller, let me set you straight.  Yesterday was the drive to Dallas to pick up 2 precious pups that arrived from Australia. It was terrible weather and traffic both ways.  The female was perfect and when we met her foster parents she got out of the car and into the other car even with thunder, lightening and water deep enough to go into the tops of my shoes.

The male was so frightened of the storm he totally shut down and glued himself to the car. He even tried a swipe telling us he was scared to death.

By  putting the car in the garage, the poor boy could decompress a little and the worst of the storm passed.  Eventually he started looking around and with Tiller's help found the courage to get out of the car.

Mike developed a flat tire he had to get fixed before he could take the new pup to foster. Which gave more time to allow the new pup to calm himself.

The new boy will be fine. Between jet lag, a strange house overnight, the severe storms, then strangers and different long car ride and finally the really severe storm and way extra time due to excess traffic on the 220 mile drive from Dallas, it just shut that houndie down.

I heard this morning he did eat but is hiding. So there is improvement. He just needs some relaxing time.

All this on top of being involved with rescuing a 13.5 year old heat stroke and other horrible things a female greyhound endured. The vet is being wonderful! She convinced both the owner and finder to sign the hound over to them and they did to avoid being held responsible. Vet called our group. She received greyt care and is staying in hospital until Monday when moved to foster care where both parents are medical professionals. She has multiple issues but will be lovingly cared for until she says enough.

Thank the dog for the quick thinking and greyt heart of this vet.

Now Tiller if you still want to grumble go ahead.

I am taking a long nap.

  3. Our group is contemplating starting up the adoption program since greys from Australia and Ireland seem to be happening more regularly. We liquidated all muzzles, collars and leashes over a year ago.

Our source for muzzles is no longer in business. Please PM me if you are willing to share source contact info.

    Thanks!

  4. I am trying to make a list of tips and tricks to help houndie owners dealing with issues in caring for their hounds.

Specifically, I am looking for a photo that I can use of greyhound wearing either shorts, or sweat type pants that have been used to prevent the pup from licking the rear areas.

I know that I have seen them, but since I want a photo now, cannot locate.

    Can someone help me?

    Thanks

  5. Thank you Ducky for your kindness to remember all the angels!!

It is so sad to have to be the last on the list, but I know that Senator will be the first through the pearly gates of rainbow bridge to play, run, and talk to everyone!!!

  6. Our permanent foster has corns. This is my first dog to have corns.

When he had his dental the really nasty corn was lazered off.

It has been a month and it is back bigger than ever.

I have tried to use the corn acid and bag balm, but it only seems to make it grow faster, and poor guy is really limping. He is 13 1/2 YO.

I have heard pros and cons to dremeling. Some say yes, and some say no it makes them grow deeper into his foot.

For all the corn specialists out there, any suggestions on this issue of dremeling???

Possible the only way to give the poor old guy some relief is to amputate that toe, but he is too sick to do this.

    Thanks for the help!

He hates his TheraPaw boot. Will pull it off no matter how tight, or extra wraps of velcro I use. Sigh!

  7. Does anyone have a handout or list of things that should be avoided in the hounds yards. New adopters sometimes ask about pesticides and plants that they must avoid.

I know I have seen this somewhere, but darned if I could find it now!

So to all the GT'ers that are much better organized than I am, could you please share your handouts or websites to review???

    Thanks for your expertise!!!
