  1. I'm so sorry about Chorney. I can't imagine losing a dog - Please take care. Susan
  2. So sorry to hear about Chorney....especially when you are going away. Well Pongo has had diarrhea for 2 days and we are off to the vet. Some vomiting too. I guess he ate or drank something nasty when I wasn't looking. Hoping to have this resolved before Trapy comes.
  3. My poor boy is so pink people are asking me if he is sunburned! The vet says he has a staph infection so he is on Cephalexin 2 x per day. Is this a food allergy issue? He has always been pink but now he has the red dots on him as well. Could he have had this for a long time and it is just flaring up now?
  4. Well it is looking better today - scabbed over. Pongo is eating, drinking and being his silly self. Thank you so much for everyone's replies.
  5. HI - Pongo has an abrasion on his front leg - not sure how he got it but we interacted not so favorably with 2 dogs last night. Skin is ripped right off - bled for a bit but just looks like "meat" this morning. Used polysporin - no limping or over-zealous licking or swelling. Would you recommend a stitch or two - I know he will not have fur there again... Susan
  6. Pongo has a lump on his neck - I had it biopsied and it is benign. The vet said remove it anyway. Or should I see if it changes and then get it done?
  7. HI - I pulled a small piece of glass from Pongo's foot yesterday but it did cut his paw pad. It keeps spotting and bleeding off and on. Are there special bandages or other things I should do to stop the bleeding?
  8. Hi - Pongo went out for a walk this morning and stumbled. Now he is limping - front left. He can't seem to put his weight totall on that foot. I had to go get him and hubby and we lifted him into the van. Has been several hours and he is still limping. I don't see anything in his paw and it does not appear to be swollen.
  9. Does anyone else's greyhound have spots that seem to "multiply" or get darker? I have heard that Nutro can have this effect on the coat/skin. Pongo is looking like a dalmation these days
  10. Hi - we washed Pongo with a nice oatmeal shampoo today and he seemed to like it, but everyone complained he smelled worse than before. I'm putting it down to that "wet doggie smell" so hopefully he will improve soon. Anyway, he is nice and soft
  11. Hi - looking at some of the racers the dogs look much smaller than my 83 lb. Pongo. Just wondering if most dogs are smaller and how that affects their racing ability. My dog, lucky for him, was a washout Maybe if it was a hotdog going around the track instead of a bunny he would have been a champ!
  12. Hi there - Pongo collided with a bulldog at the leash free park today and was limping for awhile. Then he seemed to get better and even wanted to play more but we left. At home he layed down for a sleep and when he got up he yiped twice. So I took him to the vet for a checkup and he said it seems like a pulled muscle. I am giving him Metacam for a few days for pain and inflammation. Anyone else's hound had a pulled muscle? How long does it last?
  13. Wowee! Pongo gets around! Thanks for posting this!
  14. Hi Robin - that is cool - we can all do a play date when the weather gets nice. Pongo is a great dog - we love him.
  15. Hi - my user name isn't very creative either. We adopted Pongo 3 weeks ago from another family who couldn't keep him. They took very good care of him and he is a terrific dog. He will be 5 in July. He has fit into our family very nicely - it is DH's first dog and he loves him! My two kids love him too. So far Pongo is moderately active and goofy - perfect for us!
