  1. I'm so sorry...that's just the worst thing to go through...
  2. That's right...before applying the duct tape, it's good to clean the corn with alcohol and eliminate any other stuff like sand or earth. Then put the duct tape on (just the size of the corn) leave it for 2 days and remove to put a new one on. Normally after a period of 8-10 days with duct tape, the corn sticks out and can be removed easily. For my Soldi this method worked. She suffered from recurrent corns...
  3. That looka like a Malassezia dermatitis. I posted some days ago a topic about Malassezia dermatitis because my dog has this fungus (it's a fungus) on his foot pads. There develop little crusts, it gets reddish and does hurt when walking. Fortunately my dog has got it only on 2 feet and it's not so difficult to treat. If a Malassezia infection is generalized you should bathe the dog with Chlorhexidina every day. Malassezias are very sensitive concerning the PH of the skin. I soak my dog's feet every 2 days in a solution half water half white vinegar and let it dry. It seems to work. You vet should do an analysis in order to determine what Fungus exactly is causing your Greys' problem. I have seen recently a dog with this infection and it looked pretty much like on your Grey. Have luck...fungus is extremely bothering. Often it's only a symptom of an immunological disorder or another underlying health problem...
  4. Friends of mine want to adopt a very poor abandoned dog that is extremely strong and not very educated. The dog is very big and weighs at least 90 pounds. His force is impressing. My friends own 7 cats. Today the dog visited for the first time my friends' house and wanted to chase the cats immediately. They were not prepared, had no water-bottle nothing. My question: do you think that it would ever be possible to get that cat-chasing instict out of the dog? It seems so difficult... Do you have any experiences?
  5. Hi Batmom and Tbhounds, thanks for your kind replies! I will not treat with oral meds either. At the moment the local treatment works... Batmom: I have added 2 new pics to my gallery for you. As you see, Foska is very easy concerning her sleeping places. She just can sleep everywhere. My adorable Greys would not ever have laid down on a non-bedded surface or even a bare floor...Foska is different as you see... If I could, I would put the pic in Cute and Funny, but I don't know how to download to a topic...
  6. As some of you might know,I adopted a Husky/Podenco Mix after the loss of my beloved Greys 'Ivy' and 'Soldi' This Husky/Podenco Mix, whose name is 'Foska' has a recurrent problem with Malassezia dermatitis on his toes. Little inflamed reddish crusts develop on the side of her pads and it's a painful condition. The vet gave me some chlorhexidina and a liquid and it did work for a while. But the problem comes and goes. I take her to the beach, we bathe the pads,I put them in water with vinegar, I wash with Chlorhexidina but these Malassezias come back, sometimes more sometimes less. She dog doesn't smell and it seems not to be an itchy condition. Does anybody have experiences with this?
  7. He might need to let stem off...take him to an off-leash area where he can run his heart out...in the house he will be the most educated hound...
  8. I'm so sorry that your precious hound had to go. When I read your post about the hound not wanting to eat at all, I remembered my beloved Soldi. She started to refuse any kind of meal, even sweet ham, sardines chicken or whatever tasty meal. She didn't eat for 3 days, then I called the vet who took a blood panel. The result was horryfying...cancer of the marrow bone, no cure possible. We let her go the same day as she really felt miserable. She wanted to meet her beloved companion and half brother Ivy at the bridge, which she lost 8 months before.
  9. That looks like a Gracilis muscle injury...a bit of rest is recommended. The thigh will not completely recover its initial appearance but the dog can run and play again after some weeks of rest. My beloved Soldi got that injury in both thighs but after some rest she was fine again...
  10. Ivy and Soldi used LongDog Leatherworks collars and other leather collars. They only wore them during walks...at home they never wore collars.
  11. I didn't read all the replies, but I'm very sorry for what you are going through. When my sweet Soldi (passed away last year) was 2 years old she got intermittent bloody colitis every 15 days. I took her to different vets, we did lots of analysis and she was on lots of meds...lots of money spent, just for nothing. Metronidazole and Panacur even made her bloody diarrhea worse. Finally the vets 'diagnosed' IBD and proposed to put her on Prednisone for life. I took her off ALL meds and waited the hound to get hungry. Then I started to give her a home cooked diet and some kibble at times and I even didn't vaccinate her anymore. You won't believe but her bloody colitis problem resolved on its own...no more problems. Many Greyhunds have an extremely sensitive digestive system and filling them up with meds even make things worse, kind of a vicious circle. So I always recommend, let nature do its help, each organism tends to heal by itself but if lots of chemicals interfere, all the healing process gets slowed down. I hope that your Dorie gets well soon, mybest wishes for you both, Marion

    Rosies Dot

I'm so very sorry for your loss...although we have to go through this sad process with each dog that shared our life, we never ever get used to the tragedy of loosing one...my thoughts are with you, Diane...

    Remembering Jed

I remember Jed as well...he pssed only one day after my beloved Ivy-Blue. They leave too big holes in one's heart. Whar a beautiful boy he was...
  14. Oh, I know what you are going through. My poor Ivy-Blue, who passed away today but 2 years ago had that same problem for the last 6 months of his life. He had lost control and first his hind legs didn't work properly and then finally his front legs started to loose control too. His four legs wouldn't obey him anymore and he knuckled over and stumbled and hardly could walk. I didn't mind the loss of potty control, but when the legs refused to work he had such a hard time that I had to take the final decision. He had a serious spine problem too and finally steroids didn't help anymore. It's so tragic to see an otherwise healthy hound with good life spirits and good appetite getting abandoned by his legs...I wish you that uyour hound still can at least walk a bit and maintain his daily routine.
  15. Thank you for your feeling words. It's interesting that the link doesn't work. I join the same slideshow but just newly stored...please tell me if it works now: It's strange that it didn't work before as I showed the vid here on GT when I just had put it on You Tube a few years ago and it worked perfectly... hoping that it works now... greetings, Marion
  16. Time psses so fast. Today, 2 years ago, my most adorable hound ever went to sleep forever. It was the hardest day of my life. 8 months later my beloved Soldi followed him to the bridge. Their bond was too strong, she lost all life spirits, got very depressed and became deadly ill. Although I adopted another poor dog (no Greyhound)my the hole in my heart stays and I still cry when I remeber the happy times with Ivy and Soldi. For those, who knew them I join two slide shows with music: Greetings to all of you and hug your hounds... Marion
  17. Happy belated Birthday, Iberia!
  18. Nothing from China ever! I don't feed many treats anyway. I prefer to give a piece of hard bread than strange treats from Asia which could contain even dog skin or whatever...
  19. My beloved Ivy had those poop issues in the house 8 months before he psased on a daily basis. He had serious rear end problems due to a spine problem and he just had lost control of his sphincter. Normally those problems indicate an underlying spine problem. I hope that in your hounds' case it's something that will go away...
  20. Iremember Boomer too...and I'm so sorry to read about his passing.
