  1. The original map has a pin for Albuquerque and then Dallas. They must be planning a petrified forest stop or are cruising original Route 66, cause it's only about 250 miles from Flagstaff to Alb...
  2. Gas is expensive in Flagstaff. I filled up expecting to be gouged once I was down in the canyon in Sedona, but it was cheaper down there. Go figure... Any plans to 'Stand on a Corner in Winslow, Arizona?'
  3. Whoa, old thread. I thought for second someone got promoted to moderator. Nope, just someone that isn't on much anymore, I guess.
  4. If you think he's associating it with you leaving, have him spend some time in there while you're around.
  5. Condolences Mo. Maybe some extended Zuni time will help cheer you up? Like maybe in 2 days or so.
  6. Strange, biting necks and backs of legs is what Zuni does whe she is playing 'bitey face.' And only when the other dog is running around excited. I wonder if he's really bad at playing with others? It seems strange for him to be biting legs if he is truly small dog aggressive, instead of going for a fatal blow? Obviously I can't be sure of anything without witnessing him first-hand. Regardless, a nice muzzled greyhound playgroup would probably be a better solution, if one is available in your area.
  7. Zuni was Sprinter's Pride. She never won a race in 19 tries. I adopted through Greyhound Welfare in MD/VA. I think we were about as south as the Seabrook hauls went.
  8. I don't have any help but my Zuni raced against your pup in 2006 on the 21st of July. She was second...
  9. It's the GR thing. People start saying gr...eat dane. And I go 'greyhound' and they go 'oh, right, that's what I meant.'
  10. I have had 7 male fosters-- Shark and Scout are what I consider 'small' around 67 pounds each. Bootsy and Falco were pretty average--Bootsy should be around 75, but it's impossible to keep weight on him (one vet visit he was 69 pounds, I felt like a bad foster papa). Falco was around 76 pounds. Bauhaus was slightly larger than average and was close to 80 pounds. Prairie Dog and Goliath were 'bigger,' PD was just over 80 and raced right around there, Goliath's sole training race was listed at 85 pounds, he was 18 months, and could probably be comfortably 90. He's probably 32 inches tall. Goliath with small Zuni, and smaller Cat.
  11. food goes in here.

  12. Please call me Pepperjack, though. It's my punk rock name...
  13. You should have just gone straight to the ABT.
  14. Are they hosted somewhere like photobucket, flickr or somewhere online? You will need the web address for those sites like http://mypicture.jpg Then place that string between [] with an img before and /img after. [ i m g ] http://mypicture.jpg [ / i m g ]
  15. I felt a whole lot better after I did.
  16. My Zuni remembers every spot where we have ever seen a rabbit, including Gettysburg a year later. Some of them are quite sharp... Glad she is home safe.
  17. I never expected to lose a former foster so soon. Prairie Dog came to me in April, the biggest, sweetest, happiest boy, after an extended stay with Belinda just outside Tri States in Charleston. He had a decent racing career, winning the Tri States Night of Stars in 2004, and produced two litters. Plus he was being held for at least a year in limbo before they were able to get the go ahead to adopt him out. So he was already 7 when he came to Maryland. I offered to foster him since I thought he might be around a little longer than a usual young dog right off the track. Boy was I wrong. The first folks that came to see him wanted him and spoke for him and he was headed out the door in just under a month. His adopters named him Miles. In the middle of August, just three shorts months after going home we got the word that he was diagnosed with Osteo. They kept him happy and managed his pain but last night it was too much and they let him go. (from his adopters) (trying to show how big he was using Zuni as a comparison) Christie threw a party and I took him along--he even put up with little Lucas drooling on him (from his adopters)
  18. Zuni has incontinence. It developed about 3 months after I adopted her, prior to her 3rd birthday. The vet put her on DES, which is sythnetic Estrogen. It was one pill every week, but that didn't quite stop all the accidents so I was giving her a pill about every 3 or 4 days. Before the end of the year she was a lot better and I stopped giving her the pills. But about a year and half later they came back and i've been giving her the DES again. I'm not sure what the dose is that i'm using, I can check when I get home.
  19. Where in Jersey? I personally avoid the turnpike like the plague, so I would suggest 80, if you're reasonably close. If you have go to far out of your way, the turnpike might be your only option...
  20. Zuni rarely even runs with other sighthounds at that dog park. It's so small and the gravel doesn't help.
  21. Zuni doesn't run much at that dog park either. She practically refuses to step off the path onto the gravel. Bootsy, on the other hand, ran until he hurt himself. That's why no more fosters to the dog park for me, but that's another story. Zuni also likes to pick on the dogs playing fetch there. She crouches and then jumps at them when the run by. They proceed to drop their tennis ball and run away.
  22. Her Gmail status says Irene home!!!!!!! Haven't heard anything otherwise...
  23. Foster Don't worry, we'll find something.
  24. Four gorgeous hounds arrived from Daytona this past Saturday. They will be on hold for a week so we can get a good sense of their personalities, of course.
