  1. I took a 12 yr old to OSU to see Dr Couto when she got bone cancer. I felt she could be a tripod at that age. Dr. Couto came right and out told me that age is just a number. After a thorough exam to make sure she could physically handle it, she lost her leg. She had a terrific 6 months as a tripod until bone cancer formed in another leg. Age is only a number.
  2. I had a girl with heart disease and regular vets did not want to put her under. I think she was 10 at the time. She had an abscess. I took her to a specialty hospital with a dentist and cardiologist on site. She made it through with flying colors. I ended up losing her to cancer at age 12. I also had a 15.5 yr old that did not have a heart condition but she needed her teeth done. I took her to a dentist.
  3. Would you like to bring him over for a playdate with my 3 girls? I'm in Hunterdon county.
  4. My Onyx would go several days without eating. Just when I was about to bring her to the vets she's start eating like there was no tomorrow. She did this the last couple years of her life. She made it to 15. One thing she always liked was Ensure for weight gain. And it did not bother her tummy.

My heart sank when I opened up the osteo thread. She was a very beautiful girl both inside and out. And very loved.
  6. My beloved Diamond. Lasted 6 months as a tripod before OS struck another leg. She was 12 when she became a tripod and never looked back. (she's modeling a Spaghettio on her head) OS took only one, but I've lost 3 to hemangio.
  7. Free catch is never sterile. Not even in humans. The only way to get a sterile sample is needle into the bladder. It is a "clean catch", but not sterile. So then, what would a 'dirty catch" be? It's when an animal is caged and you put a pan under to catch the urine. You have the pan there for several hours and it can contain food, poo, fur, whatever that animal can drop into the pan. (I'm ASCP certified Medical Technologist. I do labwork)
  8. I hear you. I have a 10 yr old now that I got at 1.5 yrs old. I had my 15.5 yr old for 11 yrs when she left. My heart and soul girl I had for 8 yrs as I did her littermate before she left. I had one for 18 days, one for 2 yrs who left at age 5, and lost my first at only age 8 after having her 6 yrs.. sucks big time to lose them. But I won't have missed not having them for the world.
  9. I had experience with fibro of the spleen. My Pearl had her spleen removed but it turned out to also be in her liver. The cancer grew a centimeter a day and I lost her 3 weeks after surger. I hope it's not as aggressive as my Pearls.
  10. Argos has also put the "adopt a galgo" bug in me too. Someday I'll have one. God speed Argos.
  11. when my Onyx got up in age she got picky. And that's all it was. So to keep weight on her I gave her Ensure for weight gain. She loved it so at least I didn't have to worry about her losing a lot of weight during her fasting periods. But from what you've said, he sounds like something's bothering him. Can you afford a second opinion?
