  1. His weight gain is ascites. Fluid in the belly. I'm so sorry. I have 7 at the Bridge and it never gets easier.
  2. I didn't want it to be your Sophie when I saw her name. There are no words. To lose two so close together. I'm sorry.
  3. He actually goes right side up? I've only seen him roaching.
  4. If it is LP, my Onyx had the tieback surgery at age 11 and lived to 15.5. Best thing I did for her. And there's a couple of human's I'd like to de-voice personally.........
  5. I would ask how many their office has seen, but go more on their attitude. Do they look willing to share or bothered by your questions?
  6. My Pearl did not have OS, she had hemangio and threw a clot. The vet said that cancers do tend to do that.
  7. ah sh**. Horrible news. I was hoping you'd have more time with him.
  8. {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{ Annette }}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} It sounded like he was holding his own. I was hoping for longer.
  9. Have you tried acupuncture or chiropractic?
  10. I'm so sorry. I went the amp route with my 12 yr old Diamond. She adjusted very well and had a terrific 6 months before OS was found in her back leg. It's not for everyone but it was for her. Dr Couto told me age was just a number.
  11. I had a ton of meds for Pearl when I had her. I know I went to Costco for most of them. Costco does have cheap meds. Unfortunately I don't remember if they had vetmedin.
  12. What about using a boot when he's outside, or just during the day. Off at night when he's quiet and sleeping? Do that for 6-8 weeks.
  13. Do brush her teeth. One of mine has gorgeous teeth. The other not. I have to not only brush daily but give her a dental twice a year. I've had a couple of dogs that ended up toothless. While they still ate just about everything, they had the pain of bad teeth, pain of extraction and struggled with the hard treats. Too many baths will dry her skin more. Try adding fish oil to her food. Or eggs. Since I have chickens they get eggs regularly. Yearly checkups are plenty unless she has prob. Also they are usually easy to do nails. Search for dremel in this topic or in EVERYTHING to learn how to dremel their nails. Does she have fleas? I'd treat only if needed. But if you have heartworm disease in the UK definitely give her monthly meds for that. Also, there are great books for caring for greys. One is Care of the Racing Greyhound, another is Greyhounds for Dummies. (I hope I got the titles right) And congrats on joining the greyhound cult!
  14. I did an amp for my Diamond who had OS in a front leg. Six months later I sent her to the Bridge because OS hit her back leg. Smiley also had OS in two legs. I was at OSU with one of my girls when Smiley had an amp. Three days after his surgery his other front leg broke from OS. I don't know if either had spinal cancel neither showed signs. I'm sorry for the news.
  15. I am across the river in Hunterdon County. I also have an acre fenced. You're welcomed to come over for playdates.
