  1. Pharoah does this at least once or twice a year. The last time was when the snow was crunchy and he was running through it and scraped the skin between the toes. During the summer he managed to snag a twig between his toes and skinned between them. Needless to say, I'm getting pretty good at treating his wounds. I would get the extra skin cut off and have a vet look at it. I did the first time Pharoah did it and hopefully your baby won't do it again, especially since it's the foot with the toe he broke.
  2. Handsome dog! Welcome from Iowa.
  3. Gorgeous dog! Welcome from Iowa.
  4. Lots of prayers and healing chants coming from Iowa. Hope Sierra is feeling better soon.
  5. Pharaoh had HGE and has recovered completely. He was vomiting blood as well as the bloody pooh which got him an immediate trip to the vet (not our regular vet as we were out of town). After a stay with the vet with an IV for fluids and every test known to man or beast, they sent him home with meds, prescription food and orders to watch him closely (not a problem since I was now paranoid). They never could find a cause, but he has never had another episode since. So give hugs and love to your baby and we'll send prayers from this end.
  6. Pharoah had HGE a year ago while we were visiting in Colorado. They ran all the tests and found nothing -- no cause. He's since recovered all his weight and is completely healthy and back on his regular diet
  7. Pharoah was attacked by a dog that was allowed to run loose by the neighbors next door, and I did report it to animal control. The neighbor did pay the vet bills and tied the dog up after that. I don't think the Rottie should be PTS. The circumstances were such that it doesn't warrant such drastic measures if it was a first bite. I agree that the wife doesn't like the dog and would like to have it removed. It should be reported to animal control to be sure that such a thing doesn't happen again.
  8. Welcome from a newbie in Iowa
  9. Pharoah had HGE while I was visiting in Colorado. I took him in within 2 hrs of onset and with IV therapy and antibiotics he recovered within 2 weeks. It was one of the most terrifying events I've ever had with him and going to an unfamiliar vet didn't help any.
