Oh Amy, I'm so very sad to see this. She was a very special girl. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Congratulations on your new girl, Rose. It sounds like she's coming along nicely. Post some picture of her when you can.

It is hard not to worry. Sending good thoughts.

Negative for worms doesn't really mean much. Unless you catch them at the right time in their life cycle, their won't be anything in the fecal to catch.

Glad to hear the surgery went well and she can come home tomorrow.

I'm so sorry you were so poorly treated. I would not be going back there. Sending good thoughts that the cause of her discomfort is something minor and that she recovers quickly and completely.

Was using olive oil, will try coconut oil. Jack has been eating them now and his poops are so much better, even later in the day. Stools are not crumbly but are firm and easier to pick up. I give one tablespoon a day split into two meals, usually make the carrots (tablespoon) at one time then split between breakfast and dinner. Carrots tend to expand a lot over between meals. Does anyone make up a bigger batch and then dole it out or are people making specific batches for each meal. Jack has a hard time waiting the time it takes for the carrots to be ready for his meal. Do not notice that Jack is going more than usual since starting using.
I make up several days worth at a time a keep it covered in the 'fridge because Princess also has a hard time waiting.

If you've never tried canned tripe, you could give it a try. It kept my boy, Cruz, eating for a good while in the last stages of CRF. I fed Cruz the Solid Gold, Tripett, and ZiwiPeak. He liked ZiwiPeak the best, but ate all three brands pretty well. Ideally raw tripe would be the most nutritious, but it's extra stinky and messy, so I would try canned first. Sending good thoughts.

It's so hard not to worry. Hoping everything checks out and she just needs some additional calories. And digestive enzymes and probiotics can't hurt. I'm a big fan of both.
-
I don't have any advice, but will surround you both with good thoughts during this difficult time.

Well, first I want to say thanks to everyone who chipped in with suggestions. I really appreciate the help.
I contacted our adoption group vet and gave full history. We were finally able to talk on the phone yesterday. What a nice man! Anyway, the upshot is this is (no nose worms, yay!) probably a combination of continuing allergic reaction to the antibiotics we had taken her off of and all the pollen and dust from farmers harvesting in the fields.
Over the weekend she had NO episodes. I'm to keep her on the benedryl and after a week try weening her off that a bit at a time going back to full dose if she begins again. He also had never heard of reverse sneezing going on so long, but said if the irritation was bad enough it was possible.
I'm very grateful it is nothing serious. I'm ready for my girl to begin to feel good again.
Glad to hear there haven't been any further episodes. Hope she's feeling good very soon.

Welcome back! Sounds like you've been very busy.

I'm so sorry to see this. Sending good thoughts for a speedy recovery.

Thanks 3greytjoys! I'm very careful to keep my dogs away from foxtails because I know how dangerous they are. I'll mention the mites to my vet. I really appreciate all the ideas and suggestions.
She hasn't had an episode of reverse sneezing now for just over 24 hours. Very encouraging.
Glad there haven't been any more episodes.

I've also had good luck having them follow another dog who is confident on stairs going up. Still have to be careful about them walking to jump coming down tho. I've never actually had to teach one from scratch since my existing dogs have always taught my new greyhounds how to navigate steps/stairs.
