  1. Adding my healing thoughts for your sweet brindled boy!
  2. Waiting is so hard. I'm hoping along with everyone for a good path report!
  3. I'm a sucker for the spooky ones too! I'm so glad this little girl found the perfect home. Congratulations!
  4. I met someone several years ago that had a greyhound that was intersexed. They called referred to the dog as a "he", but he was anatomically the same as your dog. I do recall that the dog had some sort of a surgical procedure that was done correctively, but I never got a full explanation on it. I was very interested and had lots of questions, but the man I was dating at the time was "grossed out" by the discussion and cut it short.
  5. I'm so sorry. I lost my first one unexpectedly like that. Quick but such a shock. I will hug mine extra tonight.
  6. Mine are shedding, which is normal for this time of year. Princess (red fawn) is a "low shed" kinda girl, but she does shed. Carly's (white/brindle) coat is super thick and soft and she's shedding like crazy. She sorta sheds year round, but right now it's literally falling off of her. Good thing dog hair doesn't phase me. It's become both a condiment and fashion accessory in my life!

    Genie's Gone

Just seeing this. What an inspiration Genie was to all of us!
  8. Another fan of Transfer Factor here! I first used it for my weimaraner who had hemangiosarcoma. I feel it really contributed to extending her life. The specialist gave her 6 weeks to live at the time of her diagnosis. I lost her to congestive heart failure 13 months later. Twelve and a half of those months were excellent quality. I've also recently given it to my greyhound, Carly, who is allergic to flea bites. One bite can set off a vicious cycle of itching, scratching, and chewing and within no time she'll be bleeding. This year she's MUCH better and I think it's the Transfer Factor. Hope you find relief for them soon. Allergies are very frustrating.
  9. You've done a great job with him. You're definitely his angel. Wonderful news about Duke!
  10. So do I, Robin! Sending positive vibes and healing thoughts.
  11. If your vet has ruled out other medical issues and feels it's "spay incontinence" I understand your hesitance to put her on Proin or PPA at such a young age. I know lots of people give it to their dogs and I'm not being critical, but I typically try to exhaust natural approaches before using prescription drugs for my dogs (or myself). It's just my personal preference. Years ago my male greyhound (age 5) suddenly started leaking urine in his sleep. My vet (who's a complementary/alternative practitioner) determined that he didn't have a UTI, but noticed that his lower back seemed tender to the touch. He did a chiropractic adjustment after I told him that Keno had gone to play group and run like a wild man the day or so before. Worked like a charm! It cropped up another time several years later after he had run and played extra hard and it responded immediately to the adjustment. I do remember Dr. Watkins saying something about the nerve that controls the bladder sphincter in male dogs getting pinched sometimes .... so I'm not sure if this would apply to a female. Is there an alternative/complimentary veterinary practice near you that you could take her to for a second opinion? There are herbal combinations that some people have used for spay incontinence with success. Here's a link to one called Genesis that has good reviews, but I haven't ever used it myself. I hope you get this resolved soon. Keep us posted.
  12. Lots and lots of positive thoughts and white light to you and sweet Beau!
  13. You are absolutely right. I knew he was for me the moment I laid eyes on him. Every day is like Christmas around here with all the progress! As the greytlady said, we are in Salem, right next to Roanoke. I know the area well. I actually lived in Troutville in a really neat old farm house for a while after I graduated from college (VA Tech) many moons ago. It was a beautiful area and was right off the Appalachian trail. We used to have hikers stop by sometimes. And we're going to need lots more pictures of Domino!
  14. I was curious as well. Half of my relatives are in Clintwood, Abington and Kingsport Tenn. Where in Wise County did you grow up? We could be related. I grew up in the metropolis of Wise! My father and most of my relatives on his side of the family still live there. I have a niece in Coeburn and a niece lives in Kingsport, TN.
  15. I'll continue to send positive thoughts to Sheana. There are some vets who advocate raw or cooked diets for dogs with kidney disease -- mostly homeopathic or alternative practitioners. I don't personally know anything about this one but his website turned up in a Google search for "homemade diet for dogs with kidney disease": http://www.pet-grub.com/pet-health/chronic...al-failure.pets Keep us posted, Lori!
  16. Hello and welcome to you and Domino! The spooky ones are very rewarding. Where are you in SW VA? I grew up in Wise County.
  17. I'm so sorry this happened. I hope Merlin heals without any complications. Give him a gentle hug for me. I am no longer able to walk my dogs in my neighborhood for this very reason -- loose dogs! GRRRRR ....
  18. Positive thoughts from me to you and Sheana!
